What You Need To Know:

Featuring a pH 5.5 formula, Avene’s non-sticky fluid is infused with a cohederm complex that creates micro-reservoirs in your skin to deliver around-the-clock hydration. This is combined with Avene’s famous Thermal Spring Water, which is scientifically proven to soothe skin as it’s packed with naturally occurring minerals and trace elements that rebalance your skin’s flora. Plus, the emulsion protects your skin against the ageing effects of UV rays, thanks to Avene’s patented broad-spectrum sun filter system. To complete the mix, provitamin E shields against oxidative stress.

Why It’s Escentual:

The Avene Hydrance UV Emulsion SPF30 takes everything you love about the Hydrance Light Hydrating Emulsion and adds the protecting benefit of SPF! It soothes, hydrates and protects your skin against UVB and UVA rays, all while ensuring your skin feels soft and plump. Avene Hydrance UV Light Hydrating Emulsion SPF30 40ml is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Much heavier than previous versions I used the SPF20 version of this product all the time. I’d heard the new formula was heavier on the skin and avoided it up to now, but decided to give it a go. Although the scent is pleasant and it doesn’t break out my sensitive skin, it really is still quite heavy and more like a sunscreen than a light moisturiser. I’ll use this up but won’t repurchase. I’m mixing with a little cetaphil daily just to make it easier to apply.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing like the old SPF 20 version it replaced I’m so sorry to say this is not ‘Light’ at all, it leaves an awful sticky shiny film over my face from application that will not sink in. It’s not suitable for my oily skin and makes me look and feel dreadful. I’m so so sad because this has replaced the ONLY Spf face cream I EVER found that was light and comfortable enough on my oily slightly sensitive blemish prone skin. The Spf 20 old version was a dream and this replacement couldn’t be more opposite. It’s unusable for me. I’m lost without the old version and will be now searching for a replacement but seeing as I’ve been searching for 20 years to find the ‘perfect’ day cream I doubt I’ll find another. Such a shame.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Have used the Avene cream in this range for years but thought I'd try the lighter emulsion for a change. To me it feels as thick as the cream - so no change there. But my main objection is that after a short while on the skin it "pills" and I get white blobs and if I rub or stroke the skin it almost rubs off. I know this can be a problem with products containing silicon - I don't know if this is the case here. I don't use foundation so can't comment on how it sits on the cream or whether the pilling causes problems/ I will not be buying this cream again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Avene Hydrance UV Light Hydrating Emulsion I read mixed reviews about this product which put me off getting it although I loved the previous formulation. I bought it anyway and am very happy with it and would recommend it. It is lightweight, sinks in easily and I have acne skin and prone to redness and it does not irritate.
