The Rouge Dior lipstick is celebrating a special birthday this year, and it’s doing it in style.
For its 60th anniversary, the iconic lipstick is reinventing itself with brand new shades, sleeker packaging and an enhanced, high tech formula.
As much a treatment as a lip colour, the reworked Rouge Dior lipstick contains rock samphire extract to stimulate cellular renewal, plumping hyaluronic acid and light reflecting particles to increase the depth and beauty of your colour. Its shade selection is divided into four main colour families: reds, pinks, beiges and corals, and there are matching Dior Contour lip liners, and even some matching Dior Vernis nail colours in some of the key shades.
Choosing the right shade for you is more straightforward than ever before – and to make it even easier, I’ve swatched all of the new colours below…
New Rouge Dior Lipstick Swatches

Though the shades are really pigmented, they retain a beautiful sheen. One of my favourite shades in the collection is 028 Mazette, a vivid coral pink that can be sheered out for a wash of complexion-brightening colour, or layered on for a punchy, bright lip. 169 Grege 1947 is a wearable neutral beige, 277 Rose Declamation is a beautifully cool blue-toned pink, 361 Rose Baiser is the perfect rich rose pink, and 365 Rose Songe is a sweet orange-pink with warm undertones.

The earthier hues are found in the 400s and 500s, from 434 Brun Samarcande, a rich brown, to the bronzed, amber and peach tones of 526 Macadam, 532 Plisse Soleil and 539 Ambre Zemire. The ultra fine texture of the lipstick gives each shade beautiful depth of colour.

The pinks and reds come thick and fast in this collection. My all time favourite, go-to shade of red is 743 Rouge Zinnia, above, which manages to be rich, lively and timeless all at once. Other noteworthy mentions are the electric candy pink of 671 Deauville, and the on-point coral red of 765 Montmartre.

For such a classic selection of shades, Rouge Dior does brights incredibly well! My highlights include the vivid pink of 775 Darling, the shimmering violet shade 786 Mauve Mystere (a favourite of Jessie J) and the tangerine pop of 844 Trafalgar.

The vampiest shades in the collection are in the 900s – and there’s something for everyone here. 941 Rouge Cannage is an ideal yellow-based poppy red, while the blue-toned 958 Sterling Red offers a flash of deepest scarlet. The star shade of the Rouge Dior collection is hat it’s all about, though. 999 is an arresting shade of carmine red with a fantastic history: it’s the first shade of lipstick created by Christian Dior, who believed a slick of red lipstick worked wonders for lighting up the complexion. It is also a favourite of Natalie Portman’s – she’s wearing the shade in the advertising visuals at the top!
