A little earlier this year Dior released their biggest skincare launch to date, Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin, to much fanfare. In the interim weeks between then and now, the powerful little bottle has created waves, and has been a bestseller in the UK. But what exactly is it?

Dreamskin is the latest addition to a growing category of ‘global skincare’: that is, singular skincare products that are cross-generational and work to address many different concerns at once. There’re so many good things happening in one bottle that I really do think it earns its wonderfully evocative name.

Dior Capture Totale Dream Skin

The hybrid cream-serum formula has been created with the overriding aim of giving women the confidence, no matter their age or skin tone, to reveal their skin without make-up. That means it has a fair few boxes to tick! As well as optically blurring imperfections (without a tint, it’s important to note), Dreamskin gets to work on wrinkles and dark spots, while tightening pores and relieving redness.

In order to deliver on all of these claims, the formula is suitably high tech, drawing on cutting edge techniques and even neuroscience to achieve a spectacular result. To achieve immediate radiance, a ground-breaking complex of ultra fine mineral biomimetic powders create a second skin effect, both in look and feel. After application, this blend of mica platelets and hollow silica microspheres evens out discolouration and smooths out the skin.

The oeuvre of dream skin is completed with a promise of lasting radiance, which is achieved with a blend of rare botanical ingredients including firming longoza extract and reviving opilia extract. Over time, redness, dark spots and dullness are reduced, enlarged pores are minimised, wrinkles are smoothed, and firmness is restored. Phew!

The texture of Dreamskin is unlike any skincare I’ve ever used before. It has the velvety feel of a primer, and yet it leaves no residue on the skin, sinking in beautifully to leave a semi-matte finish. I cannot speak for its wrinkle reducing properties, but I can most definitely attest to its pore reducing and evening claims. After the very first use I was impressed with just how ‘soft focus’ my skin appeared, both before and after applying my foundation. I’ve been using the fluid every morning for about 2 months now, and my skin looks better than it’s looked in a long time. My full-coverage foundation eventually gave way to a lighter foundation, and now I’ve moved on to something I thought I’d never be able to wear confidently: a BB cream. For for that reason, I can confirm that Dreamskin is pretty fabulous.

That is all eery well, but when you question the beauty consultants about the need for any other Capture product,, the answer is…”Yes use your Capture Totale, and your Capture Cream as well.
??? Surely this makes no sense, if Dreamskin claims to provide the whole shebang!
    Seriously bewildered///Liz

Hi Liz, thanks for your comment!

I think it depends on the results that you want from your skincare regime. Dreamskin is a great all-rounder – if you’re unsure where to start with your anti-ageing regime, then it’ll answer most of your concerns, such as brightening, evening and firming.

If you’ve got very specific anti-ageing requirements such as smoothing out deep-set wrinkles or intense firming, then I would also use products from the Capture Totale range that target those concerns alongside Dreamskin, or as a replacement for the product at night.

      I hope that helps!
