Summer could not come any quicker this year – I’ve been counting down the days until I could swap my scarves for some sandals. And although the winter months can be cosy, festive and at times fabulously foody, I cannot deny my love for the vibrancy of summer. Of course, I cannot proclaim that my love for summer exists only because of the heat and the fashion… I have a slight soft spot for a good summer beauty collection too!
If, like me, you’ve been summer dreaming for quite some time, then the Guerlain ‘Palm Beach or Palm Springs’ Summer Collection will get your heart beating a little faster. As soon as this arrived at Escentual HQ we couldn’t wait to see what Guerlain had in store for us this summer, and let me tell you – it’s good! So good in fact, that we couldn’t wait to swatch them here, and there was no stopping us when it came to conjuring up the perfect Guerlain Summer 2015 look.
So, I won’t tease you any further. Let me guide you through ‘Palm Beach or Palm Springs’…
The Palm Beach Look
Palm Beach is (yes you guessed it!) all about beach-chic make-up that’s vibrant and sun-kissed, but wearable and interchangeable too. Chelsey began her look with the Terracotta Sun Protection Compact Foundation SPF20 in Sand, to even out her complexion and protect her skin.
She intensified her subtly lined eyes with the smudgy Khol Me Kajal eyeliner, using the intense black shade to add dramatic impact – perfect for taking a beach look from day-to-night in an instant. For that signature beachy glow, Chelsey used the slightly rosy My Terracotta Bronzing Powder in 02 Natural Blondes on the high points of her face, ideal for faking a glow if your skin doesn’t tan easily.
And because no summer-look is complete without a sweep of colour, Chelsey’s look is finished with the Rouge Automatique Hydrating Long-Lasting Lip Colour in 662 Fluo Stiletto, a cool-toned pink, and the Colour Lacquer Nail Varnish in 700 Blue Ocean – contrasting colours that scream summer and work perfectly together.
The Palm Springs Look
The Palm Springs collection is all about beautiful pops of colour, with products that enhance a sun-kissed tan and radiant looking skin. For this look I used the Joli Teint Beautifying Foundation in Natural as a base to give my skin a healthy glow effect, as the foundation features healthy glow pigments which impart a beautiful, sunny tint to the skin.
To add definition to the contours of my face I applied the golden-toned My Terracotta Bronzing Powder in 03 Natural Brunettes underneath my cheekbones and around the outside of my face to add warmth to my complexion. I also popped the bronzer through my crease to add definition to my eye area before applying the Summer Shadow Waterproof Cream Eye Shadow in White Sand. I applied this white-gold pearl shade all over my lid, on the inner-corner my eyes and also, as I’m never one to miss out on a multi-purpose product, I dotted this along my cheekbones as it’s an ideal product for highlighting too.
And finally, my favourite part of this look, the colour! On the lips I’m wearing the Intense Colour & Shine Bare Lip Sensation in 441 Tangerine Vlam, a coral with gold shimmer throughout, and on my nails the Colour Lacquer Nail Varnish in 143 Nahema, an orange-toned red takes centre stage.
