Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl Q&A

Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl Q&A

Ruth GillespieGivenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl has just launched at Escentual, and it’s creating major beauty and sartorial waves. Inspired by street style, Rouge Interdit Vinyl is a versatile, lightweight lipstick that will elevate your look with a fun and fashion-forward twist.

From muted nudes all the way through to a showstopping (and multiple sell-out) pH reactive black hue, there’s something for everyone in the collection, all finished off with a plumping, soft focus finish.

To give you the low down on the new launch, we had a chat with Givenchy’s Regional Makeup Artist, Ruth Gillespie. Here’s everything you need to know about the lip phenomenon…

Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl Q&A 1

1) What makes Rouge Interdit Vinyl different to Rouge Interdit?

Rouge Interdit has a very different finish on the lips; it has more of a satin soft finish whereas the Rouge Interdit Vinyl has an extreme shine finish with an intense colour. Rouge Interdit Vinyl also contains Black Rose oil which provides the lips with exceptional comfort and hydration.

2) What sort of finish does Rouge Interdit Vinyl have?

Rouge Interdit Vinyl has the most incredible finish on the lips. Its Vinyl material has an extreme shine and plumping effect, giving an intense colour with a medium coverage. The ‘Desert Rose’ creates a smooth blurring effect on the lips to also add to the plumped, super moisturised finish.

3) What’s the best application method for this type of finish?

The best application method for this type of finish is straight from the bullet itself. The transfer of colour is intense and you barely need a lot of the product to see the difference it creates. For a fuller, more sophisticated finish, apply Givenchy Mister Scrub before to buff away any imperfections and then line the lips with Givenchy Lip Liner to sharpen the edges for that perfect pout finish.

4) How can I enhance the shape of my lips using the Rouge Interdit Vinyl?

I always use Givenchy lip liners, I think they are super on trend at the minute and there is no better way of achieving that ‘plumped out’ pout. Using Givenchy’s lip liner, which are long stay and waterproof, you can outline the lip to create a bold sharp finish or fill the entire lip area in using the liner to create maximum coverage, fullness and long wearing ability throughout the whole day/night. Another product I love for maximising your pout is Mister Light, its light reflective finish is perfect for retouching the skin but also has an amazing effect if used around the lip line to highlight and brighten.

5) Will Rouge Interdit Vinyl dry out my lips?

This is quite the opposite. Rouge Interdit Vinyl is perfect for every type of lip, however, it is also extremely good for people with dry lips. It contains Black Rose Oil which provides the lips with the most beautiful comfort moisture, a feeling that will last all day long and after every application.

6) Can you tell us a little bit more about the star shade 16 Noir Revelateur?

Now this is a secret I’m willing to share with you…Exclusively from Givenchy, the shade 16 Noir Révélateur is the star of all the shades! Used on its own, it has a beautiful colour that adapts to the pH of the skin. It can be also used on top of any lipstick. Upon application over your chosen shade of Rouge Interdit Vinyl it will give the lips a deeper, ‘just bitten’ look that is unique to every single person. You must try it to believe it!

7) How can I tell which shade will be best for my skin tone?

Make up is all about personality and at Givenchy we welcome creative freedom, when you go to try on Rouge Interdit Vinyl, try a colour you have never worn before, experiment with shade 16 Noir Révélateur, reds or pinks, oranges or nudes, the creativity is up to you. I’m not a huge believer in certain colours/shades only being for certain skin tones. If you feel comfortable in nude, pinks, oranges, reds….in fact any colour you would find in the rainbow, then dare to wear.

8) Which shade from the Rouge Interdit Vinyl collection is the most versatile?

This is a hard question as there are so many!! In my opinion I would say shade 03 Rose Mutin, it’s a soft peachy, pink tone which is perfect for the up and coming Spring Summer months. It also looks so different on so many people, however, a lipstick that I truly believe everyone needs in their wardrobe of colour is the shade 16 Noir Révélateur. This lipstick can be worn with other colours to intensify the look or completely on its own where it forms its own identity on the lips by reacting with the pH of your skin to magically turn in to your perfect shade!

9) What is your favourite shade of Rouge Interdit Vinyl?

I am a HUGE lipstick fan and can never have too many colours. My ultimate favourite from this collection is the shade 12 Grenat Envoûtant. It is a plum toned, deeper pink which looks amazing as a statement lip and with the shade 16 Noir Révélateur layered on top it really finishes it off! You can also have a more subtle finish to this colour as well which I also love. You can softly blot it onto the lip so it isn’t as bold this gives the lips a subtle dewy stain which looks very natural. I love strong lip colours and will often experiment with colour on my lips, so this was the perfect shade for me, however, Givenchy do an array of shades to suit everyone’s needs, so you will definitely be able to find your favourite too!

10) Is Rouge Interdit Vinyl suitable for mature skin?

Yes absolutely! It’s suitable for every skin… I’m not a huge believer in specific shades suiting specific skin tones and ages. Make up at Givenchy is designed so that every woman can release their singular elegance, a mature skin can wear colour just as well as someone who has a more youthful skin, if you feel comfortable in a shade then dare to wear and go for it!
