The Vichy Dermablend 3D Review

A true Vichy Dermablend lover until the end, I’ve always had a committed relationship with the original Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation. Is it the unique coverage? Or maybe the compliments that I receive when I wear it? Either way, there’s something very special about the Dermablend makeup range that’s got me hook, line and sinker.

As soon I heard Escentual Emma mention the words ‘New Dermablend foundation’ a few months ago, I’ve been patiently twiddling my thumbs and waiting for the launch date to see if the brand new Dermablend 3D Correction Foundation could take pride of place in my make-up bag. Luckily enough, that launch date just so happened to coincide with first day of our up to 1/3rd off French Pharmacy promotion (it was a sign), so I snapped up a tube of my own to give it a thorough trial. So, has the acne-busting foundation lived up to expectations?  Bear with me, I’m going detailed on this one.

Vichy Dermablend 3D Blending

So, what’s changed?

Let’s start by saying it’s all in the consistency. Compared to the original Dermablend Fluid Corrective FoundationDermablend 3D is more specifically adapted to oily/acne prone skin types that suffer with an uneven skin texture. Super matte and almost mousse-like in its formulation, Dermablend 3D brings the power of blemish busting ingredients into your daily makeup routine, whilst smoothing away any unwanted lumps and bumps in just one layer – think camouflage, not conceal.

There are 3 big differences with the Dermablend 3D Foundation formulation that set it apart from your usual foundation:

Fresh Texture – 3D has an oil-free formula.

Matte Finish – 3D is enriched with mineral pigments that form a silky, soft veil over your skin.

Bare Skin Feel –3D’s lightweight texture mimics the effects of foundation in one layer.

Vichy Dermablend 3d All Shades

Who’s it for?

Although Vichy says that Dermablend 3D is for oily and acne-prone skin types, I find that it’s performed brilliantly for most complexions (those with very dry skin might want to give this one a miss, though!). Importantly, 3D is suitable for sensitive skin and has optimal dermatological tolerance, which means irritated and unpredictable skin types that suffer from hormonal or irregular breakouts can use it too. Dermablend 3D is packed full of active ingredients to clear and beautify your complexion, including:

Salicylic acid – As well as limiting sebum secretions, salicylic acid works to unblock pores and promote a clearer complexion by encouraging cell turnover.

Eperulin – An anti-inflammatory, aqueous extract that helps to improve the overall texture of your skin.

Alliagel TM – This innovative ingredient gives a soft-focus finish to the foundation by leaving a velvety veil over your skin for 16 hours.

And the shades?

Launching with 5 shades in the pack, all of your original favourite Dermablend shades are ready and waiting – starting with 15 Opal and finishing at 55 Bronze. If you’re looking to make the transition but are unsure which shade will be the perfect fit, here’s a link to our swatches of the Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation for comparison. Psst! We’re hoping that Porcelain, Coffee and Espresso will be brought over soon!

15 Opal – The fairest shade in the collection (my shade), its mild pink undertone blends beautifully into lighter skin types.

25 Nude – Slightly warmer but with a yellow undertone, Nude is the ideal match for those who class themselves as fair but not the lightest shade.

35 Sand – Definitely one for a tanned complexion, its warm undertone is one for those who are naturally olive toned or who like to use fake tan.

45 Gold – The ideal shade for a medium complexion with a yellow undertone. Again, Gold is the perfect fit for those with an olive undertone.

55 Bronze – The darkest in the shade collection, Bronze will blend beautifully into medium-dark complexion with yellow undertones.

As acne antibiotics didn’t work for me, I’m constantly on the lookout for cosmetic innovations that can either clear or conceal my blemishes. Voila – here it is! Opal fits me perfectly, gone are the days of hiding in a polar neck. My favourite part?  Knowing that my morning blemish battle will be an easy one! The pigment is fantastic, blending is effortless. 3D’s quick dry texture sits comfortably on my skin, with or without primer.
