Easy Everyday Hair

Every Day Hair

Ceryn Signature

I’m always really envious of people with great everyday hair. I often find myself wondering if they prepped it the night before or awoke at dusk to perfect their tresses. That being said, for years I’ve been saying that I’ll start taking more pride in my hair and stop banishing it to low pony everyday. And until now I’ve had little success, partly because I thought it would take too long in the mornings. But, after perfecting these styles I can safely say that everyday hair is actually pretty easy!

What I realised is that products make the world of difference. I used to wonder why my curls only lasted a mere 2 hours or so, or my textured styles looked flat and lifeless, and it was because my hair had no grip to maintain or achieve the styles. Just like your foundation will last longer and look better if you apply a primer first, your hair is more likely to go the way you want it if you help it along the way with some products.

So, let’s all put bad hair days behind us, shall we? Here are four styles and some must-have product recommendations that will make doing your everyday hair style a doddle!

Front Braid

Ceryn - Side Plait

Wearing my hair down happens once in a blue moon, and when I do it’s only a matter of time before a bobble appears. Why I hear you ask? Well, there’s something about my hair going in my face that drives me round the bend. Feel the same way? The Front Braid is the style for you! Practical, wearable and super easy, this French braid style will keep your hair out of your eyes, whilst allowing your hair to flow freely.

Step 1: After shampooing work the Schwarzkopf Osis+ Soft Glam Plumping Shine Mousse through your hair from roots to ends. This creamy mousse will build volume and help give your hair some grip, which you’ll be thankful for when braiding.

Step 2: Next, separate a small triangle of hair at the front of the head (on the side of your parting you’d like your braid). Divide this hair into 3 equal sections.

Step 3: Time to braid! From your 3 pieces, take the piece closest to your face and cross it over the middle section. Next, cross the piece closest to the back of your head over the middle section. Repeat this process, adding sections of hair to each outer part as you cross it over the middle. You’ll continue this, adding more hair as you go, until you reach the ear. At this point do a normal 3 strand braid (don’t add any other hair) and secure it underneath the hair with a hair grip.

Step 4: Loosen up your braid as you wish and finish off your look by smoothing any flyaways with the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. This nourishing oil will be the perfect finishing touch to this fun, easy style.

Messy Bun

Ceryn - Messy Bun

I don’t know about you but there’s something about a messy, undone bun that I love. Not only do messy buns look effortless and chic, but their also one of the easiest up-dos to whip up in a hurry. The trick to a top notch messy bun is texture, once you’ve got that you’ll just need some hair grips and a little pull here and there and you’ll be good to go.

Step 1: Spray the TIGI Catwalk Session Series Salt Spray throughout the lengths of the hair. This texturising spray will help give your hair that beachy dishevelled look, which is ideal for messy buns.

Step 2: Pull the hair into a pony tail position at the back of the head. Next, take the steps you would usually to secure your pony tail in place, only this time pull hair only half way through the bobble. This make shift bun will be loose, so tighten it by wrapping the bobble around one more time. You can then begin pulling out sections to get an undone effect and secure areas that are sticking out with hair grips. Once you’re happy with the bun, hold in place and pull at the rest of your hair to loosen the front.

Step 3: Finally it’s time to give your style some hold. For this look, the Joico JoiShape Shaping & Finishing Spray is ideal. With medium, flexible hold, the hairspray won’t weigh down or overload your style.

Textured Pony Tail

Ceryn - Textured Pony

I’ll be the first to admit that I often banish my hair to a pony tail, and for me the results are usually flat and uninspiring. Not anymore! You’ve probably seen celebrities like Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid sport a textured pony tail and it always looks perfectly imperfect – so why can’t we? It really is as easy as it looks…

Step 1: The Sachajuan Spray Wax will be your styling aid for this look, helping you get texture and grip. Spritz the spray wax at the roots and through the lengths to achieve separation and shine.

Step 2: Next, section the hair into two pony tails. One with the hair at the crown (secure with a clip), and the second in a normal pony tail position, using the remainder of your hair (secure with a bobble). Then focus your attention on the hair at the crown, adding more Sachajuan Spray Wax for intensified texture, before securing both sections together in one pony tail.

Step 3: To finish, tease and pull the pony tail for added body. Then, spray hair with the Living Proof Style Lab Flex Shaping Hair Spray, this multi-tasking hairspray is great for a look like this as it gives hold that can be reworked and manipulated.

Sleek Side Bun

Ceryn - Side Bun

This is a look I wear a lot on holidays, mostly because sea water and heat dry out my hair and this is the perfect excuse to douse my hair in oil. If you’re after something a little more sophisticated than a messy bun, this is a great option and it takes no time at all.

Step 1: Create a side parting and move all your hair to one side (the side you’d like your bun to be on). Now, smooth some Schwarzkopf Professional Osis + Glamination Smooth Polish Elixir through the lengths and ends, this will give your hair a sleek appearance.

Step 2: Grab a triangle section of hair at the top of the head (nearest to the parting) and twist away from the face, joining that section to the rest of your hair. Next, knot the hair as you would a rope, twisting it into a bun, and tuck any loose sections underneath the bun.

Step 3: Gently pull the bun until you’re happy with its size, before spritzing hair with the Sachajuan Protective Hair Perfume, which will not only hydrate and eliminate static, but it will also impart notes of green apple, peach and rose (you’ll smell divine).
