It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with makeup, sticking to the same nude lip and smoky eye combo day in, day out and never venturing outside of your comfort zone. So this month, we’ve teamed up with MAKE UP FOR EVER to try something a little different! In a bid to add a little colour into our summer makeup routine, we’ve created a gradient liner look with MAKE UP FOR EVER’s long-lasting and most importantly, easy-to-use Aqua XL Ink Liners.
If you’re also looking to be a little more colourful this summer then you’ve come to right place, follow these simple steps to achieve this bold liner look.
The great thing about wearing a graphic liner look is that you can get away with keeping the rest of your look simple. For this look we’ve kept the skin fresh with a subtle glow, the lips bare and the brows are natural so that the eyes are centre stage. Scroll for step one…
Prepare
To begin, apply the MAKE UP FOR EVER Color Paint in I-50 all over the lid using the MAKE UP FOR EVER Precision Shader Brush – Medium 228. Prepping the eyelid with this iridescent warm beige gel-cream will not only prolong the longevity of your look but also give your eyes a beautiful sheen.
Define
Next, it’s time to add colour! Use the MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua XL Ink Liner in M-26 to trace the upper lash-line from the inner corner to the outer corner. Drawing this baseline will help you to perfect the gradient liner look with ease.
Enhance
Now it’s time to create the gradient liner effect. To do this use the MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua XL Ink Liner in M-22 and trace the outer corner of the flick you created in the previous step. Once you’ve filled in the tail-end of your flick, blend both colours into one and other for a seamless gradient look.
Colour
If you want extra intensity, use the MAKE UP FOR EVER Kohl Pencil in 3K Pearly Turquoise on the lower lashline. Apply from the inner corner to the outer corner and then blend the edges with the MAKE UP FOR EVER Double-Ended Shader & Smudger Brush.
Intensify
Last but certainly not least, add volume and drama to your lashes with the MAKE UP FOR EVER Excessive Lash Mascara. Wiggle the wand at your roots and layer for mega intensity.
