Rated 4 out of 5 by MattyCurry A Boxer in a Sharp Suit Yatagan is a bruiser - a big solid fragrance that is not to be messed with. The mightiest, grandest and stately tree in the forest, whose fragrance dominates all around. No, really. It opens with this heady, forest like mix of cedar and pine - strong and green and slightly herbal. Kinda scary at first, but you soon learn to appreciate it. There's not much else like it(more on that later) - folks in the know will realise exactly what you're wearing, and other folks will ask what it is (for good and bad) At first, the supergreen mix can come off a little "bathroom cleaner" - but it's intertwined with these sour notes that give it depth. Then along comes this firey, powdery smell, like a forest fire. Intense and leathery. As it dries down, the burning wood note gets more prominent, and you're left with this wintery aroma of bonfires. Stunning, but not for the faint hearted. Note: Yatagan is very close to Etat Libre d'Orange's Eloge du Traitre. If you're not sure about the burning wood note, you might like that one, where is dried down linearly instead. May 7, 2011
