Rated 5 out of 5 by Fionattt Great lip product This is called lip perfector, I generally think it goes between the lip gloss and lip moisturiser. The applicator is fluffy and I like the feeling, but it's kind of waste of product because it's quite to control the amount of squeezing it out. Other then that, I like the product soooo much because I feel my lip is really moisturised while it lasts quite long. Besides, one of the things that I love the most is that the frangrance of it. I bought the candy and rose ones, and they smell so good while I love the candy one more because it does have the strong smell of candy and I couldn't stop myself to put my nose near to the product. It smells delicious! June 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by UZZI Luscious lips in seconds Lips come up a treat with this. The hint of colour in what I would describe as a cross between a lip gloss and lip balm gives lips that full polished look. conditions dry lips and is easy to apply with its angled sponge tip. January 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by MrsKittyF Smells delicious This is a fabulous lip gloss. It smells good enough to eat, like toffee. I really like the soft velvety applicator pad of these lip glosses as it aids smooth application and helps sooth dry lips. The 'gloss' itself is more of a balm than a gloss as it's not sticky or gloopy and it does shimmer instead of shine. It's my favourite lip product at the moment and have already bought the darker colour. Highly recommended. January 4, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by CherryCoke Beautiful balm, but doesn't stick around long. Now my opinions on lip gloss/gels/balms can be pretty mixed. Having long hair, I tend to my glue it to my mouth in the wind, and end up with a beautifully coloured streak right up the side of my cheek as the gloss/gel is gracefully dragged along my face. Either that, or it lasts but two minutes on a hot sunny day when my hair is tied safely away, because I dared to get an iced tea… There aren’t many lip gloss/gel products I have used that I actually like, so when I decided to try one from my oh-so-favourite Clarins, I was pretty nervous. I didn’t want to hate anything from the love of my life! The tube itself is very pleasing to the eye. It comes in the colour to match your chosen gel – from pale pink ‘Rose Shimmer’ to a pearlescent brown ‘Rosewood Shimmer’. My gel was the pale pink mentioned, as I chose ‘Rosewood Shimmer’ for my shade. The lid is the signature gold, which I always have a soft spot for. It look luxurious and of quality. The name of the product is clearly printed in white, in both English and French as is standard with Clarins. When you take the lid off the product, you may be surprised to see (as I was!) a little sponge on the tip of the tube. It is a tiny little white thing that with a small squeeze of your tube slowly turns the colour of you gel. Now, I have to say at this point that ‘rosewood shimmer’ is a stunning shade – a very pale pink, not at all sickly looking (by this I mean a sugary pink looking shade. I personally like that colour, but some people like a natural pink – this is it). It looks very natural on the lips, and no colour pops out obviously. It just makes the lips look healthy and full. The gel comes out the top of the sponge, and you are able to softly spread it on your lips. I cannot fault the ease of application of the product – usually with gel I get it all over the edges of my mouth and have to tidy up afterwards, but this didn’t happen with the cute tiny sponge. Perfect application immediately! Now the texture of the product itself is lovely. It isn’t at all sticky, and feels very silky smooth. Unfortunately my hair did still stick to it! But nowhere near as much as usually happens. And seeing as it is a softer feeling gel as opposed to sticky gloop, the hair was easily removed with no messy steaks up my face. Result! So it is all well and good thinking the product is pretty, liking the sweet smell, and thinking the packaging is nifty, but I bought this product for 2 reasons: 1. My lips are dry, and the Shea Butter in the product promises to help with that as well as repair them (along with Wild Mango and other lovely helpers). As a bonus, this product helps protect against free radicals (the baddies in the environment that will damage your skin) by using derivative of Vit A and E. Awesome! 2. It is suggested that it can be worn over lipstick or alone. I like having that option, as although I have dry lips I still like to wear my lipsticks! Yes I know that can cause more dryness, but I am a lipstick junkie and admit it. That is party why I chose this shade; I figured it was least likely to look awful on my lipsticks – any colour I chose. So for number 1, I obviously can’t say if my lips have been protected against free radicals, I have to take Clarins word on that! But I can definitely say they are much smoother. I have worn it for a good few weeks now, and I have noticed a difference. I have no flaky bits, and the dry patches are almost gone. My lips no longer look unsightly and painful! As previously mentioned, you can’t really see any colour when it is alone and it just makes the lips look full and healthy. I like this effect a lot. It disguised any dryness right away. For number 2, this really does look great over lipstick. When I put this over the top of my favourite, the colour looks even more amazing! It does alter the lipstick shade slightly, which I expected, but what I didn’t expect was the result. The colour was slightly lighter, but somehow deeper – the purple was brought out much more in the lipstick. The gel also added a lovely sheen to the lips which looked simply beautiful. I was over the moon with the effect. Sadly, this is where I have to add a little negativity to my review. The longevity of the gel is not very impressive in my opinion. I expected to apply the gel and not have to reapply for some time, but I found I did so a few times an hour, sometimes more. My lips definitely still felt soft, supple, and moisturised once the actual gel couldn’t be seen, but I had to reapply to get the look I wanted. I also find that applying over my lipstick makes the lipstick come off very quickly; and I do not normally have a problem with this particular lipstick coming off easily. I would ordinarily apply this every few hours or so, but with the gel, it came off within 20 minutes. This balm will get 4 stars from me because it does help dry lips, the colour is beautiful, the application is effortless, and the packaging is of high quality. But the longevity of the product on the lips lets it down; and it isn’t very often I say something negative about a Clarins product. Although I perhaps wouldn't buy it again myself, this is only because it doesn't suit my personal needs. For someone used to wearing gloss/gel, and it being their preferred make up, they would probably love this as they would be used to the more regular application. And I think it would be a welcome change from some of the thick gloopy lip products out there in this area. For this reason, I would recommend it to a friend as I think it is a very personal thing as to whether you are going to like it yourself. I have included photo's; one alone and on with lipstick so you can see the difference. I have also linked to the lipstick I use, and personally think looks great under this product. I use shade 'pink orchid'. This is the lipstick I reference in my review. January 2, 2015
