Symbolising empowerment and absolute femininity, the Diane von Furstenberg brand is a talisman for women everywhere.
At a time when women were hiding their shape in bell bottoms and chunky sweaters, Diane introduced her signature Wrap dress. The simple and flattering design became a cult fashion staple overnight, and the voluptuous dress continues to revolutionise the shape of women all around the world.
To complement her signature fashion, Diane von Furstenberg presents her signature scent D: a provocative scent that evokes a sense of daring, dynamism and desirability.
Diane von Furstenberg created her fashion empire in 1970 with a showroom on the prestigious Seventh Avenue in New York. Until that point, her most significant fashion experience was designing her own wedding dress. Admittedly, that wedding was to Prince Egon of Furstenberg, and the dress was created by Dior!
With her grasp of both design and economics, von Furstenberg created her iconic jersey wrap dress, a garment that transformed the bell-bottomed 70s woman into a voluptuous goddess overnight. Her simple, flattering designs suited the growing number of career women revolutionised fashion in the 1970s, and after only a few months of business von Furstenberg's sales exceeded $1million.
Following a long hiatus, Diane von Furstenberg remerged onto the fashion scene with a revamped version of the Wrap Dress for a new generation. Her distinctive collections are sold in over 71 countries and in 33 namesake retail boutiques worldwide, and in 2005, von Furstenberg was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) for her impact on fashion. Just one year later, she was elected the CFDA's new president, an office she continues to hold.
