This classic fragrance, created in 1919 with an earthy heart of oakmoss and peach, sets a standard for chypre perfumes that others have since tried to duplicate. Mitsouko, which means “Mystery” in Japanese, remains utterly unique, cloaked in a sensuous air. Mitsouko took its inspiration from the heroine of a popular novel of the time by Claude Farrere, La Bataille, meaning “The Battle.”
