Rated 5 out of 5 by Needs to be moist when applying the make-up. Really inexpensive compared to others on the market. The pointed part is great for under the eyes. December 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just about lives up to the hype! I have spent a long time trying to decide whether to buy this sponge. I’ve read a lot of information about them, and I have heard a lot of stories – ‘miracle sponge’, ‘flawless finish’, ‘looks airbrushed’ – some of the claims I have seen or heard. I honestly wasn’t sure whether I was just getting sucked up in the hype around these sponges, or if it was something I would actually use. I decided in the end to buy it anyway, it wasn’t a lot to lose, and if it worked I’d be over the moon regardless! So zoom forwards and my sponge arrives. I obviously rip open the packet immediately – I have been waiting a long time for this! (Well ok, delivery was super quick, I just couldn’t make my mind up for months’ ha ha) It feels a high quality material, and I could tell that it hadn’t been made on the cheap side. It feel smooth, and will definitely work well with the foundation. It is of a very good size being easy to hold, and I can’t see myself constantly dropping it when using. I love the colour too! The bright orange really made me smile. And although colour doesn’t affect performance, a bit of bright in your life never harms! My only concern is staining and looking grubby, but I guess time will tell with that one. When I first used this it did take a while to get used to. It is quite a strange feeling for a girl who has used a brush for years. But once you get the stippling motion down you can really blend the foundation quickly. And with liquid/cream concealers, oh my! It is a dream! Especially around the eyes when I ‘bake’ my under eye area. I was right about the size/shape too – very easy to hold, and I’ve not dropped it once. The ‘pointy’ end is great for around the nose and also towards the inner corners of the eyes. I also use it if I am covering a small blemish, and want to concentrate that coverage on a small patch. The larger flat or rounded sides are obviously great for the larger areas and general coverage. I tend to use the flat side, I just automatically do, I don’t know why. But it works for me, and I can get my liquid foundation blended with little effort. Coverage wise, I am definitely able to get a fuller finish with my brush. That said, I do believe the finish is more flawless with the sponge. So now, I am trying to work them together! I think when you wet the sponge and then apply the foundation with it (thoroughly squeeze the water out first! It should be just damp) you achieve a very healthy dewy glow, with plenty of cover too. Only my very red areas show through – but honestly, this can be fixed with concealer layering! And maybe a little BB or CC depending on severity. I don’t know if I would call the finish ‘airbrushed’ but it is definitely verging on the flawless claim. My skin does look great when I have used it, but like I say, I do seem to be reaching for my brush still, so it is more of a happy addition to my kit than a full on replacement. Cleaning is very simple. Warm water, anti bac soap or gentle shampoo, wash and rinse one per week. ENSURE all cleaning product is off obviously to avoid irritation and affecting performance. I also rinse mine thoroughly with warm water after every use to help extend its life, and try to avoid staining. Speaking of which, I have used mine around 6/7 times now and there is no signs of stains yet, whoo! If you are unsure, I would recommend you buy it. Give it a try, you might end up pleasantly surprised like me. And if not, it isn’t really that much to lose. September 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great price point, perfect product I have had a couple of beauty blenders before purchasing this Real Techniques Beauty Sponge. I have been using it for 3 weeks now. The only difference I have noticed is that this retains a little more water than the BB and this is a fraction of the cost. I love this beauty sponge , it gives you that flawless finish that we all want, is great at smoothing out concealer and when used dry blends powder beautifully. Its much easier to travel with than a selection of brushes and at this price I can afford to throw away when it gets a little gunky. I'm impressed. August 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great alternative to the beauty blender My makeup application with this sponge is flawless, it's good with applying makeup and buffing out products especially when you've put on too much powder. Compared to how reasonable this is to the beauty blender it's definitely worth it but the sponge does stain easily and its hard to get completely clean to how you first bought it but still. you clean after 3 uses and you'll have to throw it again after some time due to hygiene purposes.
