Lovehearts and Old Leather Oh, Serge Lutens Daim Blond, where to start? Oh how I love thee.... It's extraordinary to conceptualize a fragrance that, fundamentally is sugar, fruits & florals, but manages to use them to form the shape old rich, leather. Like a cowboy with a sweet tooth. The initial blast is pure sugar - Lovehearts, those little sugar sweets, a hint of violet, maybe even the rhubarb sherbert of Flying Saucers. It's a fleeting retro jaunt down the Pick n Mix aisle. Then you start to get to the goods. Apricot comes first, then Iris, some more sugar.....until.Oh my, that's leather. Saddle leather, well worn, rich saddle leather. Then, a hint of leather care cream, maybe even some boot polish. CRIPES. It's an amazing scent, perfect for in-between months, March, April, September, October. Warm enough to be cozy without being wintery. Saddle up, wear it and swoon. January 14, 2012
