Yves Saint Laurent was born in Oran, Algeria 1936. He was an
independent clothing stylist in Paris until he became a
designer/partner at the House of Dior where he eventually became
Chief Designer in 1957, after Christian's Dior's death.
His career at the House of Dior ended in 1960 when he was called
to serve at the French Military.
He finished his military obligation in 1962, and instead of
going back to Dior, he founded his own firm, Yves Saint
Laurent.
His Rich Fantasy Peasant look of 1976 helped him become a
household name all over the world.
