Inspired by pared-down, fresh beauty and translucent watercolour shades, Clarins present their new Spring 2011 collection Neo Pastel – a modern take on traditionally girlish pastel hues. Though the collection does include pretty pinks and purples, they are decidedly more grown up, paired with natural hues and darker accent colours for a sophisticated look.
The piece de resistance of the collection is the limited edition Neo Pastels Eye Colour and Liner Palette, £30.00, a palette reminiscent of an artist’s box of paints arranged by colour harmony. The six shades are coupled into corresponding colours, the brown harmony of Pearl and Golden Brown, the pink harmony of Light Pink and Dusky Rose, and the purple harmony of Lilac and Violet. The colours can be used separately for a subtle wash of colour over the lid, or together for a gorgeous, put-together look. For an altogether more vivid eye, dampen the applicator and create an intensely colourful look. The included matte powder eyeliner in Black allows you to define eyes in a more diffused way, intensifying the effect of the pastels beautifully.
After the chapped and dry horrors of Winter, your lips will be looking for a little nourishment. Clarins’ new Rouge Hydra Nude Smoothing Cream Lipstick, £16.50 will be just the ticket, with its amazing buttery smooth texture, sumptuous nude shades and protecting, repairing formulation. Lips are kept supple and hydrated, and feel really cared for. Infused with Vitamins A and E and Mango Butter, and available in shades Rose, Coral, Beige and Caramel.
You can’t complete a sweet spring look without a flush of cheek colour. Clarins’ new Blush Prodige Illuminating Cheek Colour, £24 is a gorgeously soft mineral blush powder that contains two complementary shades of cheek colour: a matte colour to sculpt, define and colour, and an iridescent shade to highlight, infuse radiance and catch the light. Ultra-silky, lightweight and beautifully pigmented for a luminous colour.
To achieve the quintessential Neo Pastels look, sweep the Lilac shade all over the lid, add depth in the socket with the corresponding Mauve shade and then apply liner along the top lashline only. Apply the Rouge Hydra Nude Lipstick in Rose with a lip brush for longevity, and sweep the soft Blush Prodige Illuminating Cheek Colour in Lovely Rose high on the cheeks for a beautifully endearing flush.

Clarins Rouge Hydra Nude Smoothing Cream Lipstick 3g
Used with a light coloured lipliner this lipstick is very nice to use. It is a natural coloured moisturising product, great for daytime. If you are wearing the new lip tint products and you have a pale colour, this is lovely worn over the tint and means your colour lasts longer, than if worn on its own. Keep it with you to re-apply. A must have, for the forth coming cold weather and dehydrating indoors. I was a little disappointed with the shade, I expected it to be alittle more mauve in colour.
