It was all over the catwalks at London Fashion Week, Kate Shapland’s been talking about it, and it’s clearly rubbed off on some of the music-loving fashion darlings at last night’s NME Awards.
Bright lips are absolutely everywhere at the moment. My personal favourites on the NME red carpet were the highlighter pink spotted on Marina Diamantis, a gorgeous orangey-red as seen on Jaime Winstone, and the bright, true red that Jameela Jamil rocked. Each lady paired their bold lip with a flawless complexion and a subtle wash of colour on the cheeks, the perfect complement to the almost glowing lip colour.
Slicking on a bit of brightening colour is such an easy way to bring your make-up routine more fashion-forward. It you’re worried about wearability, apply some pale or clear gloss over your bright colour to tone it down. The trick is to keep the rest of the look scaled-back and very simple – it’s very easy to go overboard with this one!
Try it for yourself – get Marina’s neon hue with Givenchy Rouge Interdit in 21 Shocking Pink, get Jaime’s orange tinted red with Guerlain Rouge G in 45 Orange Euphorique, and Jameela’s pop of bright red with Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in 716 Clarins Red.
