What Got me Through Last Month.. my March Top 5

As March drew to a close and I recounted all of my favourite products for that month, I was really surprised. I’m definitely not a tan or glitter person, but it turns out that the sun and Katy Perry make me that little bit braver.

March was a great month what with the gorgeous weather and the turning of spring, and these are the things that saw me through it…

He-Shi Express Liquid Tan, from £17.45
It’s the time of year when you start revealing your arms and legs bit by bit, and this year I was not prepared in the slightest. My limbs are even more startlingly ghostly than I remember, so I’ve used a touch of He-Shi to give them a subtle glow. The colour seems a little scary straight out of the bottle, but on the skin it’s just perfect and easily buildable. The best thing? You get instant colour that is bone-dry in minutes, so it’s perfect for my perpetual lateness!

Fekkai Essential Shea Conditioner, £33.00
This ultra nourishing conditioner has been a god-send in the last fortnight – I’ve dyed my ombre tips brown again, and I’ve needed all the help I could get with sorting out the ensuing chaos. The smell, texture and feel of this formulation are just second to none, and it’s a little bit of luxury every time I smooth it on. It’s pretty thick, almost as thick as actual shea butter, so the tiniest amount goes a very long way. I use it with a volumising shampoo to keep my fine hair from getting too flat.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue, £16.50
I’ve had a lot of stick for this, but I’m going to tell you anyway: I went to see Katy Perry last week, and she was pretty awesome. To perfect my over-the-top Bettie Page look that I recreated for the night, I used the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue to hold my copious amounts of glittery make-up in place. Not only did it hold impressively well, but it really intensified the colour of the pigment. The primers I already had in my collection didn’t hold glitter all that well, so this was a no-brainer buy.

Nailgirls Classic Colour Gold #2, £9.95
This gorgeous, foiled gold is shot through with fine gold shimmer and makes your nails look like they’ve been layered with gold leaf. When I’ve been unsure as to which colour to go for given the plethora of different must-have shades for SS11, I reach for this bad boy. It’s great for edgy French tips and scrawling patterns on your nails, as well as being a great all-over colour. It also happens to be Katy Perry’s favourite Nailgirls shade (going for a bit of a theme here), which doesn’t hurt!

Vichy Aqualia Antiox Anti-Fatigue Ice-Effect Stick, £14.50
I’ve had some major eye problems this month. A pretty rubbish combination of contact lens wearing, air conditioning, hayfever and general illness has made my peepers constantly sore and irritated, so I invested in this cooling eye stick to help calm the swelling down a little. It really does soothe my skin and makes my heavy lids feel refreshed. It also has a lot of slip so that I don’t have to press down too hard on my already sore eyes. It’s my new handbag essential.
