Roger & Gallet’s latest release Fleur d’Osmanthus is an absolutely gorgeous fruity floral that encourages feelings of contentment. Inspired by the abundant osmanthus plants that grow in China, the serene scent explodes in colourful floral notes and zesty citruses that inspire a happy state of mind.

The delicate osmanthus bloom grows as a riotous explosion of colour and life in the serene Guilin Valley in China. The tiny clusters of apricot-coloured flowers take two years to blossom, and when they do, they fill the air with the distinctive and uplifting aroma of gourmand floral notes. The osmanthus blossoms so intermittently that it has become a rare and precious symbol, and has made the Guilin Valley around the world.

The aromachological effect that Fleur d’Osmanthus has on the senses is one of euphoria, with added mandarin and orange oils to help ease sad feelings. There’s something so joyful about the scent – it’s not simply an out-and-out citrus, even though the notes of Mandarin, Orange, Grapefruit and Neroli make it seem as such. The gourmand Osmanthus note and the presence of creamy Tonka Bean and Benzoin transform the scent into a sweet, hypnotising aroma that is constantly shifting with energy and lightness.

The range includes the Fleur d’Osmanthus Fragrant Water, a delicate fragrance packed full of natural extracts. The gentle water fragrance can be applied all over the body and is suitable for summer wear as it isn’t photosensitive. The scent can even be spritzed onto linen and pillows to create a sense of well-being every day. The accompanying toiletries include the distinctive and traditional Fleur d’Osmanthus Perfumed Soap that is manufactured using the infamous Roger & Gallet traditional cauldron method to retain the scent right through to the last use; the unique Fleur d’Osmanthus Honey Shower Foam, a viscous honeyed gel that turns into a light and cream foam on contact with water; and my very favourite product, the Fleur d’Osmanthus Moisturising Body Lotion, a soft and creamy body hydrator made with a base of nourishing apricot milk and sweet almond oil. Each product is infused with an impressive amount of the Fleur d’Osmanthus fragrance, so much so that I’ve taken to wearing the body lotion by itself to get a hit of the addictive scent each and every day.
