Sorting Summer Eye Dehydration

In the summer, skin is far more prone to dehydration. The complexion really starts to kick up a fuss, feeling tight, dry and rough due to harsh air conditioning and increased evaporation on the skin’s surface.

My eyes in particular are feeling the strain, and my lower lids are crinkling up horrendously at the moment. This isn’t really a surprise; the eyes are the first thing to react to environmental changes due to the lack of sebaceous glands in the area. It’s really important to note here that wrinkles are often not caused by ageing, but by dehydration. This is particularly true for wrinkles that have just appeared, or if you’re under the age of 40.

To sort this problem, you need a fortifying and regenerating regime that will keep skin hydrated and increase elasticity. Don’t plump for anti-ageing products if you don’t need them – try out a product that specifically works to rehydrate sallow skin and sort out those niggly little lines that eat up your make-up.  The perfect tool for this job is the La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Eyes, an intensive creamy formulation that smoothes out dehydration lines whilst also decongesting the area. Another great product is the Avène Soothing Eye-Contour Cream, a product packed with beneficial antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and chamomile water. If you suffer with dark circles and bags as well as dehydration lines, plump for the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Eye Roll-On, a gel formulation that comforts the eye contour with mineral-rich ingredients.

As well as committing to your eye care regime, you really do need to drink the recommended 2.5 litres of water a day. It makes such a difference to your skin, working to plump it up whilst making the complexion more even and glowing. It also gives your energy a big boost, which can only be a good thing!
