One shade for the day, and one shade strictly for the night. Flirt d’un Jour is a soft and very sheer rose pink that has the slightest hint of shimmer. It’s an ideal “my lips but better” shade. Nuit d’Amour on the other hand is a decadent colour that builds in intensity from berry to blackened red with repeated application. A definite favourite.

Guerlain Rouge G in 26 Gardner, £28.50 for 3.5g
Gardner is a wonderful middle ground between Flirt d’un Jour and Nuit d’Amour, as the brick red shade is perfect for both day and night. Despite the colour of the image above, it is actually a sheer and very forgiving hue. Gardner is shot through with a subtle golden shimmer, and leans a little more towards the warm end of the colour spectrum. Of all of the velvety reds that are on offer this season, this is one of the very best!
