Jubilee Royal Style

Feeling patriotic this weekend? I certainly am – there’s nothing like flag waving, streams of bunting, jugs of Pimms, and a fanfare of trumpets to get me in a royalist mood! And if you love our Royal Family as much as I do, you can be forgiven for wanting to emulate their style – so this week, I have picked out a few key items that I suspect may be hiding in their jewel-adorned makeup bags…

THE QUEEN

We’ve all got so used to seeing images of the Queen’s face, that few of us probably notice that she nearly always wears a strong colour on her lips. From the brightest pinks to the strongest plums, Her Majesty’s makeup bag must contain an array of lipsticks in every possible shade. And with all that time in the public eye, she needs something long-lasting, so my guess is that she’s a fan of lipsticks likeDior Rouge Diorific Long-Wearing True Colour Lipstick, £23.85, with its regal gold casing, in shades Gypsy Red, Rose Diabolo, and Roulette Red.

KATE MIDDLETON

With her role as the nation’s sweetheart, Kate Middleton is rarely out of the public eye, yet her makeup is always flawless. Her foundation is luminous, giving her complexion a fresh, radiant look – she must wear something along the lines of Guerlain Parure Extreme Luminous Extreme Wear Foundation, £32.85. Her eyes are softly defined, so I suspect she uses black kohl on both the upper and lower lash lines, such as Too Faced Liquid Lava Gloss Eyeliner, £10.50. Finally, her lips have shine and just a little colour, revealing that she’s a fan of wearing gloss, like Daniel Sandler Liquid Lustre Lip Gloss in Bare, £11.25.

CAMILLA PARKER BOWLES

Camilla likes her base to be natural, but isn’t afraid to define her eyes and wear colour on her lips. I suspect she wears a smoothing foundation, such as Dior DiorSkin Sculpt Line-Smoothing Lifting Makeup SPF20, £32.40, which is formulated specifically to leave skin looking younger, along with a lengthening mascara like Clarins Wonder Length Mascara, £16, and slick of black eyeliner across her upper lashline, like Guerlain Liquid Eyeliner, £21.60. For lips, she usually opts for a rose pink, with a glossy finish, such as Clarins Rouge Prodige True-Hold Colour & Shine in Tender Rose, £14.

ZARA PHILLIPS

The quintessential English Rose, Zara Phillips is a fan of the natural look. She adds colour and radiance to her complexion with a sweep of blusher in a soft rose pink, so I am guessing that something along the lines of BareMinerals Ready Blush in The One, £18.70 has pride of place in her makeup bag. She wears just a slick of mascara and the look is very soft, so I’m guessing it’s a dark brown such as Clarins Instant Definition Mascara in Intense Brown, £16.  Finally, her lips are kept very natural with nude lipstick, such as Stila Long Wear Lip Colour in Darling, £13.

PRINCESS BEATRICE

Flying the flag for the younger Royals, Princess Beatrice has a makeup bag that would be the envy of any twenty-something girl. Her eyes are the main event, so I suspect she has a large collection of eye shadow palettes, especially in the darker, smokier shades – I wouldn’t be surprised if she owned Too Faced Smokey Eye Shadow Collection, £26. Her eyelashes are long and defined in the darkest black mascara, such as Stila Glamoureyes Mascara, £14. When it comes to her complexion, things are kept simple with a sweep of bronzer, like Daniel Sandler Powder Bronzer, £22.50. And for lips, she opts for a glossy nude lipstick, such as Dior Addict Extreme Radiant Colour, Hold and Shine in Cherie Bow, £22.80.
