The latest launch from Annick Goutal is one that I’ve really fallen for: Nuit Etoilee, a beautiful unisex fragrance that manages to be both complex and fresh at the same time.

Upon first spray, there is a cool burst which exhilarates the senses. The chilliness of the pine and peppermint is softened by sweet orange together with a touch of fresh citron. As the fragrance dies down, the sweeter side of the peppermint oil makes itself known, and blend beautifully with the depths of fir balsam for feeling of expansiveness and fresh air. The reassuring warmth of the woods structure the fragrance and keep it from being too ‘floaty’, while a decadent base of angelica seeds and everlasting flower ensure a voluptuous, longlasting trail that is so utterly unique.

There’s a version for women, a bevelled bottle with a bow and gold doubloon stopper, and a version for men in a heavy square bottle. Each one is presented in a deep blue bottle reminiscent of the clear night’s sky.
