Christmas Shopping for the Family – Lauren’s Picks

Working for a beauty company definitely has its perks, not only do I get to see all the latest releases before they’re out, I also get to treat my nearest and dearest to some special presents, without breaking the bank. Here are my personal choices for Christmas this year…

Mum:
My mum is a sucker for trying all the little samples I get from work, but in the end she never strays far from what she knows and loves. Her perfume of choice is Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Eau de Parfum. It’s hard to believe it came out 20 years ago because I’ve grown up knowing this smell and thinking of my mum (however I am 23 so maybe that does make sense!). This fresh fragrance is composed of delicate, light flowers combined with classic rose and lotus for an aquatic floral scent that is timeless and unforgettable, just like my mum!

Dad:
I’m sure he won’t mind me saying this, but my dad is a bit of a silver fox (no Dad I know you haven’t had blonde highlights!) and he grew a mightily impressive moustache for ‘Movember’. However it is no longer November so it’s time to get into true ‘Decembeard’ spirit! To keep his facial hair neat and tidy I’ll be buying him something from the Acqua Di Parma Collezione Barbiere range. I wish I could say it would be the Acqua Di Parma Collezione Barbiere Shaving Line Deluxe Stand but it’ll most probably be something a little less extravagant, until I win the lottery that is!

Brother:
My brother Craig is probably the easiest person to buy for out of my whole family (and because his birthday is on Boxing Day I can get away with getting him 2 presents and forgetting about it for a year!). As long as it’s slightly expensive and has something to do with skin care or fragrance he’s a happy chappy! His signature scent is Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Eau de Toilette, a lovely fresh, sharp fragrance with a warm woody base. The fresh and fruity top notes of apple and citrus are balanced with a floral and spicy heart giving way to a base that exudes masculinity: sandalwood, vetiver and cedar. To all you fragrance connoisseurs out there, that will make sense to you, but in Craig’s words he ‘really likes it because it smells nice’.

Nanny Mags:
At nearly 70 (you don’t look a day over 50 Nan I promise!) my Nan is still constantly on the go, looking after people and dogs here, there and everywhere. I’ve never seen a woman who looks so good for her age who barely uses any skin care products. This makes me happy as I’m hoping I’ll age the same way, but it’s also quite stressful trying to pick something out for her. However I spot a weakness! She is an avid horticulturist and this takes its toll on her hands, so step forward the Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners range. A special lady deserves special gifts, so I’m planning to get her Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners In To The Garden Hand Care Tin Gift Set. Now she’ll have beautiful hands even when they’re covered in soil, voilà!
