Hooray – I’ve broken up for the summer holidays! Filming for my TV show, Made In Chelsea, has wrapped for the season, which means no more work for weeks. I’m bursting with excitement. All play and no work makes Binky a very happy girl.
OK, so the sun isn’t exactly beating down on the streets of Chelsea, but I’m determined to feel summery, starting with my beauty my routine. I’ve given my face a gorgeous golden glow, courtesy of St Tropez, and now I’ve come up with a deliciously colourful make-up look. I’m calling it Binky’s Fruity Beauty!
Step 1: First Base
First up, create a smooth, blemish-free base for your look. I pump a little squirt of foundation onto the back of my hand, then blend it over my face using a foundation brush, but fingers work just as well. The Clarins Skin lllusion Foundation really illuminates my skin – it’s ideal for my glowing summer look. You may find you need a different foundation in summer to the one you use in winter. I love a light, golden tan all year, but my complexion is usually a little darker in the sunny months, and my choice of foundation reflects that. The best idea is to talk to the make-up experts at beauty counters, and experiment to find the perfect shade.
Step 2: Bright Eyes
This look is all about strong, fruity shades, so a pop of colour on the eyes is key. A great make-up artist’s trick is to add a tiny bit of water to your eyeshadow and use it a bit like paint – this makes the colour look much bolder and brighter. Dampen the back of your hand and blend in the Daniel Sandler Sheer Satin Eyeshadow, creating a colourful paste. Now paint a thick line of colour along the upper lash line using a small brush. When you get to the outer corner, wing it out to give you a more dramatic look. I’ve used a rich purple eyeshadow which suits my brunette colouring, but you can try pink, yellow, green, anything – its a chance to really have fun with all sorts of luscious fruity shades.
Step 3: Luxe Lashes
Brush a couple of coats of Stila Glamoureyes Mascara onto the upper lashes, wiggling it in at the roots to get good coverage. I’ve kept things simple and stuck to classic black, but this look is all about experimenting with hot hues, so next time I’m going to try a rich green mascara on the tips, or maybe a flash of blue – the brighter, the better.
Step 4: Winning Bronze
Next up, blend Daniel Sandler Watercolour Crème Bronzer onto the cheekbones. As you know, I love the warm glow that bronzer creates, and the cream bronzer is ideal during the summer when it’s best to avoid heavy, powdery products. A cream bronzer feels lightweight and gives a beautiful soft sheen to your skin.
Step 5: Blushing Beauty
Applying a soft peachy blush to the apples of your cheeks really gives your skin a healthy, summery flush. Smile, so your cheeks pop out, then simply brush blush onto your cheek mounds, blending well as you go.
Step 6: Shadow Play
Brushing on a bright, shimmery highlighter helps create that dewy finish that looks so pretty. I’ve applied the lighter shade from the Daniel Sandler Sculpt & Slim Contour Kit to the area above the cheekbones and above the brow bones, using a fluffy brush. Another little trick: blending a subtle line of highlighter down the centre of your nose will make it look thinner.
Step 7: Perfect Pout
Finally, use your lip brush to smooth on one of summer’s luscious fruity lip colours. I’ve used Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the juicy orangey shade Tesoro, but hot pinks and reds look awesome too.
Don’t forget to let me know what you think of my Fruity Beauty look. I reckon it’s so yummy, I look good enough to eat! Enjoy xxx
