Re-Branded Signature (Emma) copy

Our ever-popular save up to 1/3rd off French Pharmacy promotion is back; and it’s bigger, better and more varied than ever before! Though it’s been just two short months since our last French Pharmacy promotion, there’s been lots of behind-the-scenes change in the interim.

So, what’s new exactly? Well, for starters we now have a German brand in the mix, plus three more cult French brands. And alongside all of this, your old pharmacy favourites have been busy launching brand new products, too – there’s a lot to bring you up to speed with!

From targeted treatments and medicine cabinet staples, through to high tech skin innovation and even some sultry fragrance, here’s what’s new in our pharmacy aisles…

Eucerin Even Brighter Day Cream

Huge in in their native country, Germany, Eucerin provides skincare based on skin science. They’re a true heritage brand, with over 100 years experience in creating products for use by the entire family. Today they have collections for hyperpigmentation, dehydration, mature skin, oily skin, severely dry skin and many more, with award-winning research and major scientific and dermatological breakthroughs.

Historically, Eucerin’s best known range has been the Dry Skin collection, with high concentrations of urea and lactate to ensure that both the skin and the scalp are rebalanced. Since launching at Escentual, our bestselling collection has been Even Brighter, a collection lauded by beauty writers as a serious radiance reviver.

13rd offBoiron Homeoplasmine
Shop

Best known simply as ‘Homeoplasmine’, this multi-use skincare product started its life deep in the pharmacy’s aisles, amongst the decongestants and the antiseptic creams. Its rather unglamorous raison d’etre is for the treatment of nasal irritation, as it is particularly good for intensely restoring sore, cracked and inflamed skin. Today, it’s used for all sorts of things, and is something of a make-up artist’s darling.

With its blend of plant extracts and active ingredients, Homeoplasmine is a rather rich ointment and probably not best used all over the face. It is, however, incredibly good for all sorts of localised irritation, from cuts and grazes to patches of intense dryness, including on the lips. It hydrates and smooths in a flash and dries to a satiny finish, which is why make-up artists love it so much – it’s so versatile, and very comfortable to wear.

Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray

If you’ve never tried a water spray before, you may be wondering what on earth all the fuss is about. Don’t dismiss them before you’ve tried one, though – they’re far more than first appearances suggest. Lauded for their high mineral content and their intense soothing prowess, a spritz of cooling water can be used to calm and heal all sorts of irritated skin.

We’ve built up quite the category of water sprays, and this latest addition from Evian rounds out the offering beautifully. Recognised for its ultra purity, Evian water is filtered naturally through mineral-rich alpine rocks in the Plateau de Gavot in the French Alps and provides key hydration. It’s perfect for all sorts of things, from insect bites and dermatitis  through to nappy, shaving and heat rashes. In terms of day-to-day use, it’s a fantastic  toner and make-up setter – and in the summer you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Similar to Homeoplasmine in its multi-usage and texture but with more specific repairing efficacy, Biafine Cream is a staple product for families. The water based emulsion is optimised for burns, wounds, post-surgery, post-peel, skin reactions and abrasions, helping to boost the healing process and improve comfort.

It can be used by children and adults to provide antiseptic, hydrating and healing care in conjunction with dressings (if needed), and with sustained use it restore the skin to a healthy-looking state. An essential.

Bioderma Sensibio AR BB Cream Banner

It’s one of your favourite brands, it’s one of our favourite brands, and their latest product has been a huge seller for us since its launch. Of course, I’m talking about Bioderma and their latest hit the Sensibio AR BB Cream. Designed specifically for skin that’s prone to reactivity and redness, the ultra gentle formula has a septuple effect: it provides coverage, reduces redness, enhances radiance, moisturises, smooths, soothes, and protects with SPF 30. That’s no mean feat!

At the heart of the lightweight formula is the exclusive ROSACTIV® patent, which is present in all Sensibio AR products. Designed to immediately relieve the symptoms of redness while working to reduce the occurrence of reactivity over time, the Sensibio AR BB Cream is so soothing and mild. Its colour is a little darker than most to begin with, but it soon blends in seamlessly. To see swatches and find out more about the new formula, take a look at my post here.

20 OffCaudalie Polyphenol C15
Shop

This latest collection from Caudalie launched to much fanfare, and rightly so. Boasting vitamin C ester, plenty of hyaluronic acid and concentrated patented grapeseed polyphenols, this powerful antioxidant range works to smooth, plump and protect to great effect. Though the range boasts specific anti-wrinkle care, it’s actually good for everyone who feels as though their skin is being negatively impacted by daily aggressors, particularly pollution and UV damage. It puts the life back into dull skin, and in turn protects against early signs of ageing.

I’m particularly fond of the Anti-Wrinkle Defense Serum with its scientific-looking glass bottle with pipette. With frequent use each morning, it’s given my skin such a glow.

Avene Xeracalm Balm

Shop

Another brand, another huge breakthrough. This time, it’s in the advancement of comfort and care for those with eczema, a huge pressure point for babies, children and adults alike. Avene XeraCalm A.D is specifically developed to deal with the symptom that eczema sufferers struggle with the most: itching. Harnessing the soothing powers of a concentrated, unique microflora found in Avene’s already ultra soothing spring water, each product in the range helps to reduce itching by a massive 97%.

The collection is very simple and enjoyable to use, split into two steps: cleansing and moisturising. The soap-free Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil uses a pared back cocktail of ingredients to minimise the risk of allergy, and can be used in the bath and shower, on the face and the body. There are two moisturisers available: the lightweight Lipid-Replenishing Cream and the more indulgent Lipid-Replenishing Balm. Sterile, comfortable and highly tolerant to even very sensitive and reactive skin, they’re real rescue remedies. Get to know the range a little better in this post.

13rd offVichy Capital Soleil BB Tinted Velvety Cream
Shop

If there was ever a category that could benefit from a shot of glamour, it’s high factor facial suncare. Sometimes lamented for its thicker texture and white cast, facial suncare isn’t always the most comfortable to apply and wear, but it’s come leaps and bounds in recent years thanks to brands like Vichy, La Roche-Posay, Bioderma, Nuxe and Clarins. Suncare is now all about pairing high protection with a touch of luxury, and this new sunscreen from Vichy completely epitomises that sentiment.

The Vichy Capital Soleil BB Tinted Velvety Cream is a very clever formula that brings all of the hydrating, radiance-boosting and smoothing properties of skincare together with the very high SPF50 protection of a sunscreen and the unifying coverage of make-up. It’s pretty much all you need in the way of facial suncare in a cheerful orange tube.

Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum

Nuxe Prodigieux Eau de Parfum

And to round off our look at the newest in French pharmacy, a scented gem. The Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum is sort of a gift from Nuxe to its loyal customer base, created especially to answer the call of those who wanted the addictive fragrance of  Huile Prodigieuse in a fragrance format. The result is a seriously sensuous summer scent, redolent of hot sand, creamy flowers and nutty oils. It’s just delicious.

Opening with sunkissed orange blossom, bergamot and tangerine, Prodigieux Le Parfum evokes a tempting, quenching feel. In the heart, a signature bouquet of rose meets with the creamy beauty of gardenia and magnolia, before an almost edible base of vanilla and coconut milk give the fragrance a truly escapist feel.
