There’s no escaping the excitement around the 50 Shades of Grey movie. Whether you’re a committed fan of the books or just dying to check out Jamie Dornan’s pecs on the big screen like me, you’ll be ticking off the hours as we count down to the film’s release on Valentine’s Day.

To get myself in the mood, I’ve come up with a 50 Shades-inspired beauty look, with smoky silver-grey eyes as the centrepiece.

Step 1

Once you’ve applied your usual base, begin by contouring your face with bronzer. I swirled bronzer under my cheekbones and chin, going for that razor-sharp Hollywood bone structure.

Step 2

Of course this look is all about grey eyes, so you’ll need a really great set of smoky shades. I used Guerlain 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in Les Aciers, which has a gorgeous selection ranging from shimmering silver to charcoal grey.

Start by blending the lightest grey shade across the lids to create a soft base colour. Next, blend the slightly darker, slate-grey shadow along the socket line, to define the eye. And then, smudge the darkest shade in the outer corner of the eye and outer edge of the lash line.

Finally, add a hint of shimmer to the look by smudging the sparkly silver shade at the centre of the lid, working towards the inner corner of the eye. The key to perfecting this look is blend, blend, blend.

As a finishing touch, I ran Daniel Sandler Long Lasting Waterproof Eyeliner in black along my upper lash line. A couple of coats of Dior Addict-It Lash Mascara on both upper and lower lashes, and your Fifty Shades eyes are complete.

Step 3

Beautifully groomed eyebrows are a Hollywood must-have. After tidying up any stragglers with your tweezers and a brow brush, fill in and define the shape with a brow palette – I used the darker brown shade from the Clarins Perfect Eyes & Brows Palette, but if pennies are tight, a brow pencil or brown eyeshadow will do the trick.

Step 4

To complete the look, I coloured in my lips with the Too Faced Color Bomb Lip Tint in Never Enough Nude. It creates a beautiful soft, shimmery sheen that looks gorgeous and works in subtle contrast to your bold grey eyes.

And that’s it, four steps to Fifty Shades! Despite the strong smoky eyes, this look has a subtle glamour that makes it great for an intimate dinner or a romantic evening à deux.
