It’s wedding season! I wanted to share my own soft and romantic look that would be perfect for any upcoming weddings you might be going to, or any special events you have coming up. I know that this look would look beautiful on anyone, and it’s so easy to adapt and play around with. See how I did my soft and romantic look here…

The Eyes

For this look I wanted it to be about the eyes, so I used the gorgeous Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 15 Les Sables, as the colours are so soft and yet really manage to make my eyes stand out. The formula on the shadows is incredible, and this palette is such a dream to play around with. My top tip is to do your eye makeup first if you know you’re going to be wearing a lot of eyeshadow so that you won’t ruin your foundation if any shadow falls down onto your face.

Sweep on the lightest shade all over the lid using a back and forth motion and then take the palest shade in the inner corners of the eyes and spread the shade out across the lid. Then you can mix the two darker colours together to get a custom shade that’s perfect for you. You can make the colour darker or lighter depending on your individual tastes. Use a fluffy brush and swirl the colour into the outer corner of the eyes. You can keep blending until you’re happy with the finished effect. For this look we also took some of the same colour we put in the socket line of the eye underneath my bottom lashes to add some more definition.

I can get quite shaky hands sometimes, so I find smudged eyeliner much easier to do. It looks a little bit messier and a little bit more interesting than a perfect flick, sometimes. You can use a small brush, or your finger, and run it back and forth against the liner to smudge everything out.

We used lashes in this look – it’s up to you whether you want to use them or not. A top tip would be to apply some eyeliner (something like the Givenchy Parad’Eyes liner in Brown Legend) to the lashes before you glue them on, so they blend in seamlessly.

The Base

Another one of my tricks is to always use a primer when you want your makeup to last all night. The DHC Velvet Skin Coat is perfect for creating a flawless base for any makeup. For my foundation, I like something light and comfortable to wear, so something like the Clarins HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer is ideal. After foundation, I also like to use a powder on nights where I want my makeup to really stay in place. The bareMinerals Mineral Veil is ideal for me because it’s not too matte but still helps to keep my makeup looking fresh.

The Cheeks

To go with the soft romantic look on my eyes, I really like the bareMinerals Ready Blush in The Faux Pas, as the powder is really soft and easy to blend, and the finish means it stays all night long.

The Lips

I love really light lipsticks that feel comfortable when I’m wearing more makeup on my eyes, and one of my favourites at the moment is the Givenchy Le Rouge a porter in 101 Nude Ultime.
