How many times have you heard the phrase ‘New Year, New Me.’? Guilty as charged, we’re firm believers in fresh starts. We always say it, but it’s true. Next year is going to be our best year for beauty yet. A committed skincare routine and a constantly perfected mani can’t be too tough to stick to, can it? Well, pass us the base coats and all of the muslin cloths, because we’re up for the beauty resolution challenge.
A beautiful year lays ahead, here’s what beauty resolutions we’ll be committing to for the next year/ 3 weeks ahead. Who’s with us?
1) Rethink Your SPF
“There’s no ‘if’s and no ‘but’s – everyone needs a really good SPF. And there’s really no excuse not to wear one now, as there’s a brilliant new school of formulas that are optimised to look and feel invisible, with innovative application formats that make it easier than ever to slip an SPF seamlessly into your routine. My favourite is Bioderma Hydrabio Eau de Soin Anti-UV Mist SPF30, a cooling and weightless water-based spray.” – Emma
2) NEVER Sleep With Makeup On
“Slap my wrist, I’m a pain for falling asleep with my makeup on. My skin hates it, I hate it. Therefore, I’m committing to keeping a bottle of the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil next to my bed for emergencies. Top tip: One thing that definitely takes the breakout pain away is the Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Tonic, its antibacterial properties are amazing at calming the blemish burden.” – Chelsey
3) Try A Different Hair Style Once A Week
“I’ll admit that I’m serial offender when it comes to repeat hair-styles; I’m all about an easy life! But in 2017 I want to make more of an effort with my hair and stop being so lazy. So you can count on seeing me rock a few differently hairstyles next year, some of which I will be stealing from my Easy Everyday Hair blog post.” – Ceryn
4) Find Your Perfect Colour
“Makeup that adapts to the pH of your skin is having a bit of a moment. This new generation of products is worlds away from the mood rings and colour changing nail polish of old, though. Think luxury lipsticks and glowy blushers that work with your natural colouring in the most flattering way. The most exciting example I’ve seen is from GIVENCHY. Their Rouge Interdit Vinyl Lipstick in 16 Noir Revelateur appears black, but when worn it gives lips a moody bitten look. Gorgeous!” – Emma
5) Clean Your Makeup Brushes
“This is a resolution I have attempted and failed before, but this year I am determined to stick to it. I plan to do this with the help of the Real Techniques Brush Cleaning Palette, which is designed to make brush cleaning quicker (yes please) and more effective. Here’s to squeaky clean bristles in 2017!” – Ceryn
6) Clear Out Old Makeup!
“It’s a tough job to do, but someone’s got to do it. I know it’s hard, but that eyeshadow that you’ll never use deserves a better home. If it’s good enough to gift to a friend, take a look at the Give and Makeup charity, or if it has seen better days, maybe its time it went into the bin. Your makeup bag will never have felt so fresh!” – Chelsey
7) Reduce Heat Styling
“I’m really guilty of excess heat styling, but this year I’m going cold turkey… if I can help it, there’ll be no more heat styling for me! If you really can’t give up the ghost, make sure you have really good protection in place to take the brunt of the battering from your heated tools. Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer not only shields your hair, it also provides the perfect base for any style – so less time spent with your heated tools! It’s a win-win.” – Emma
8) Embrace ‘Me Time’
“For me, taking time to relax is usually forfeited for a catch-up with the girls or night in-front on my iPad, scouring Instagram for the best memes. So this 2017, I’m going to learn to take some weekly me-time. Everyone knows, solitude is good for the soul, paired with the Tisserand De-Stress Luxury Bath Oil, I’m set for my most relaxing year yet.” – Chelsey
9) Achieve The Perfect Manicure
“It’s true that a manicure can make the world of difference to how you feel. On countless occasions this year I have wished I had painted my nails or taken better care of cuticles. But all that will change in 2017 because I now have the L’Occitane Shea Nail & Cuticle Nourishing Oil by my side, my new found secret weapon that keeps nails strong and nourished.” – Ceryn
10) Discover A New Signature Scent
“A new year means new memories! I’m a huge fan of embracing a new signature to celebrate the good times. As the old saying goes, out with the old and in with the new. And, if like me, you’re looking to try something new, our fragrance experts are always on hand to source a tailored to you recommendation.
