What exactly is Lip Strobing? It’s actually pretty simple…
We all know the basics about highlighting our cheekbones, brow bone and décolleté, but, now there’s a new ‘focus’ area you need to be shining the spotlight on. In-keeping with the metallic makeup trend, and the bonus of the appearance of a fuller, more plumped pout, all you need is one key product to transform the way that your lips look. Let’s get learning…
Define
It’s true what they say: lip liners are a crucial step to creating the perfect lip look. If like me, you have uneven lips, you just can’t skip the lip lining step when creating your ideal lip shape.
For this look, I applied the MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Lip Lipliner in Apricot Pink 23C. It’s subtle, but it’s the kind of shade that gets your lips noticed for all of the right reasons.
Colour
Firstly, you can use any colour that you like; the lip strobing trend will work with any shade, light or dark. As this trend is specifically about ‘the glow’, I chose to use the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Rouge Creme Lipstick in C104 – Praline Beige for its subtle sheen and comfort.
The highlighter that I’m going to strobe with is very shimmery, ensuring both textures work together perfectly to create a subtle, strobed lip is key.
Highlight
Now for the finishing touch! To add depth and dimension to your lips, all you need is a dab of the Star Lit Liquid in 03 Golden Champagne in the centre of your lips, and voilà your lip strobing look is complete – it’s honestly that simple.
For a quick and easy application, brush on the Start Lit Liquid onto the middle of your lips to highlight, then blend outwards toward the edges to create the illusion of a three-dimensional finish.
Side note: The Star Lit Liquids are usually used on the eyes; however, they’re completely suitable to be used as a lipstick, or as a face/body highlighter. I’m completely obsessed with all of the shades!
The Finished Result
Highlighting is all the rage, and the lip strobing trend is a look that fits any season, especially the upcoming AW17 makeup collections. What’s great about this look is that it’s completely subjective. If shimmer isn’t you, you could use the above technique with a matte nude shadow, or, you could replace glitter with your favourite concealer, get creative with it!
