When you think blusher, you think Benefit. The iconic Benefit Box O Powder collection is the ultimate one-stop-shop for perking up your complexion, with a complete (and ever-growing) range of bronzers, blushers and highlighters to satisfy all of your colour cravings.
You see, blusher has always been my beauty ‘thing’; I can’t leave the house without a healthy dusting of reviving colour on my cheeks. So when I clapped eyes on my very first Benefit powder, the now-discontinued Georgia, on a trip to New York in 2008, it kickstarted a collector’s obsession that’s lasted to this day. The packaging, the colour pay-off, the lasting power… the Box O Powders are a little bit of makeup magic that instantly take your look to another place. It’s probably not a surprise to note that I wear them daily!
But with so many options, how do you know which blusher, bronzer or highlighter is the right one for you? I’ve taken on the dreamy task of trialing each and every Box O Powder so that you can see how it wears. From the reviving touch of baby pink Dandelion to some tan-tastic Hoola contouring, read on to discover everything you need to know about Benefit’s incredible range…

*New* Benefit Gold Rush
What it is: A warm golden nectar pink blusher for an expensive-looking glow
Good to know: The golden overspray is just for decoration, buff it off to reveal the gold-flecked warm pink shade below
A golden nugget of a blusher, Gold Rush is the latest addition to the Box O’ Blushes family and will bestow cheeks with a rich, flushing pink dusted with gold. It creates the perfect natural glow that’s flattering on all skin tones, working to bring a fresh pop of colour to the face. It’s ultra-soft and ultra-blendable, and its signature golden sheen effortlessly sculpts cheeks. It’s a winner.
What it is: A carefree and sunny pink blusher that lets you experience summer all year round
Good to know: This bright pink looks so fresh when applied with a rounded brush for soft, diffused application
The most fun-filled blusher in the Benefit Box O’ Blushes line-up, surfer-inspired GALifornia is bright, sassy and will instantly boost your complexion with its hot pink colour. An infusion of fine golden shimmer will ensure that your skin looks glowing no matter the season, while its signature pink grapefruit and vanilla fragrance is pure sunkissed indulgence.
What it is: A tropical watermelon coral for juicy cheeks
Good to know: CORALista is brilliantly pigmented with just a hint of a pearl finish
If you’ve got a sallow complexion, CORALista is the answer to your blush prayers. Its tropical-inspired coral shade will perk up all skin tones with its cheerful hue; just a cheek sweep of your blusher brush across the cheeks will instantly bring your complexion to life. Pair it with your favourite bronzer and wait for the compliments to start rolling in!
What it is: A full-throttle rose gold blush with a metallic 3d finish
Good to know: Rockateur combines baked, powder, cream and fluid textures for a purer colour payoff on the skin
I’d never considered a metallic finish blusher before Rockateur, but the 3d effect that it gives your cheeks is too pretty to ignore. A quick buff onto the skin shows off the contours of your face without the need for an additional highlighter, and a bright and true rose gold colour seems all your own. It’s an all-in-one cheek marvel.
What it is: A brightening face powder in ballerina pink
Good to know: Dandelion can be used all over the face to add a youthful flush to the skin, or built up on the cheeks as a blusher
Dandelion, AKA The Sweetest Face Powder In All The World, is a complete and utter delight to wear. Sheer but infinitely buildable, it bestows dull complexions with a boost of radiance that doesn’t come from shimmer (although there is a hint of it), instead, it comes from the luminous colour pigments. When you feel like your skin needs just a little something, this is it.
Benefit Dandelion Twinkle
What it is: A lit-from-within highlighter and luminiser in nude pink
Good to know: Dandelion Twinkle is all you need for a quick and easy glow with maximum impact
Unique in Benefit’s Box O Powders line-up, you might think that Dandelion Twinkle is just a highlighter. But, oh, it’s so much more. I was amazed at the colour and finish of this ultra-flattering, whisper-light powder; a subtle dusting on my cheekbones, nose and chin was enough to make my skin look dreamy, but the real magic happened when I built it up on my cheeks. Its nude pink undertone creates the barest hint of a flush, whilst the strobe-effect finish sculpted my cheeks beautifully.
What it is: A divine orchid blossom blusher for pretty, petal-soft cheeks
Good to know: Hervana’s harmony of tones create the perfect balance
If a soft and girlish look is what you’re aiming for, reach for Hervana. This versatile powder combines shades of peach, rose, berry and shell to create a customised finish. Simply concentrate on your chosen shades to add more depth, more subtlety or more warmth to your finished look. The world is your oyster! I’ve focused on the rose and berry shades above for a cooler take on Hervana nirvana.
What it is: A kaleidoscopic, shimmery swirl of peach, plum, pink and rose
Good to know: The combination of shimmer and pigment creates the perfect all-in-one cheek product
Pairing understated, natural colour with the fabulousness of a shimmering finish, Sugarbomb is a blush of contrasts – and that makes it my new favourite thing. Sugarbomb somehow makes your complexion look completely ‘done’ in seconds thanks to its suits-all, warming tones, while the glowing effect of the shimmer negates the need for additional skin finishers. It’s instant beauty gratification in a box!
What it is: A dusty rose powder that gives an outdoorsy glow
Good to know: Fed up of using both blusher and bronzer? Dallas gives you the same effect in one step!
Of all of the Benefit Box O Powders, Dallas has been the biggest revelation for me. If I’d have looked at Dallas, Hoola and Hoola Lite together, I would have picked Hoola Lite every time for my very fair skin… but look at the glow I’ve got in the shot above! Dallas really does give you a natural-looking, vibrant glow without looking ruddy or ‘too much’, and that’s all thanks to its blend of both blush and bronzing pigments.
What it is: The original sunkissed bronzer, all matte colour and zero shine
Good to know: The perfect partner for all of the blushes in the Benefit Box O Powder collection
Well, who doesn’t love Hoola? This award-winning bronzing powder is the gift that just keeps giving, kissing skin with a natural-looking tanned effect that looks beautiful no matter the time of year. As perfect for contouring as it is for dusting it all over the complexion, Hoola doesn’t contain a speck of sparkle or shine. It’s just pure matte colour that always looks flawless.
Benefit Hoola Lite
What it is: A soft matte tan for fairer skin
Good to know: Ultra-smooth and seamless for a completely believable sunkissed finish
Love to look tanned but find that Hoola is just too intense for your fair skin? Give Hoola Lite a whirl, it’s the bronzing powder of a fair-skinned gal’s dreams. Much lighter in shade than Hoola, but still sparkle-free and beautifully soft, Hoola Lite can be used for contouring or all-over application. It’s also the perfect introduction to a faux glow for those who are yet to discover the joy of bronzing!
