Beauty Team Favourites – May 2018

Beauty Team Favourites Escentual May 2018

Beauty lovers, you’re in for a real treat this May! After putting each new launch to the (gruelling) beauty team test, we’ve discovered nine of the best makeup, skincare and fragrance launches that you need to know about. From swatching the prettiest contour and highlight palette that will suit any skin tone, right through to blind-nose spritzing the hottest scents for summer, if you love newness, we’ve got you!

Without even realising it, all of my favourites follow a very distinctive theme this month – they’re instant energisers! Even when you’re not firing on all cylinders, these three essentials will subtly and lastingly make you look and feel as though you’re back to your best. So blush, dab and spritz away, no one will know that you’re running on four hours sleep…

Benefit 3 Teasy Tints
I’m a bit of a magpie when it comes to blush. My cheek wardrobe includes all sorts of textures and formats, but I tend to favour the long-lasting, immediate colour pay off of a liquid blush. You can imagine my glee, then, when I found out about this set of some of Benefit’s bestselling lip and cheek stains! Exclusive to Escentual, the 3 Teasy Tints set includes Gogotint (bright cherry), Posietint (poppy-pink) and Chachatint (mango, the reviving colour I’m wearing above); with their easy-to-use application format and bright and popping colours, these fun miniatures will effortlessly take you through summer and beyond.

Decleor Hydra Floral Everfresh Hydrating Wide-Open Eye Gel
As soon as my baby boy started sleeping through the night, all of a sudden he wasn’t again. This cooling, antioxidant-packed eye gel is what’s been carrying me through those 5am wake-up calls, helping to keep my crepey, half-asleep eyes looking vibrant and fresh. Sometimes all you need is a big whack of zingy hydration to make you feel alright again. And lots of coffee.

Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Chinotto di Liguria
If you’re a fan of a classic, ‘wake you up in a flash’ cologne, then you’ll adore the latest addition to Acqua di Parma’s famous Blu Mediterraneo fragrance collection. Chinotto di Liguria borrows its inspiration from the wild coast of the Rigiera di Ponente in Liguria, where chinotto oranges grow in abundance. Its blend of citrus and herbs is so fresh and crisp that it’s almost bitter; this is a fragrance that I’m looking forward to wearing with a billowing white shirt and sunshine on my skin.

May for me has been all about getting holiday ready. From body prep to whittling down my sought-after selection of under 100ml beauty essentials, these are my May must-haves that I’ll definitely be taking away with me.

Caudalie The des Vignes Body & Hair Nourishing Oil
I don’t know about you, but I can’t go on holiday without taking an oil with me. I mix it with my foundation for extra glow, I use it as after sun when I burn, and I also use it as a constant hair mask in-between pool dips. As soon as the Caudalie The des Vignes Body & Hair Nourishing Oil launched (those who know The des Vignes fragrance will know how amazing it smells), I knew I had to have it. The rich combination of 4 oils (grape, sesame, hibiscus and organic argan) alongside super-powered antioxidant, grape seed polyphenols make it the perfect post beach-day remedy – I love it!

Clarins Water Lip Stain in 03 Red Water
If you’ve been keeping up with the blog recently, you will have seen my Clarins Water Lip Stain review.  Since testing these out, I haven’t gone a day without wearing the 03 Red Water shade, call me obsessed. It’s pretty perfect for the poolside and when I’m at my desk. It’s one of those colours that makes a subtle statement without being too ‘in your face’.

Viktor & Rolf BONBON Spring Summer Sparkling Eau de Toilette Spray
Call me a fragrance diva, I’m one of those people who likes to open a new fragrance whenever I go on holiday, just because of all of the good memories that I get to relive. So for that reason, my chosen scent for this season is the pretty fitting Viktor & Rolf BONBON Spring Summer Sparkling perfume. Just like the original, it’s a sticky sweet caramel scent, but this time around the sweetness is heightened with fresh berries for a lighter interpretation – I can’t wait to soak up the sun wearing it!

May has been a month full of confidence for me and I think it’s all down to the newest additions to my beauty routine. Sometimes, a spritz of a sexy scent or a swipe of beautiful highlighter can make the world of difference…

REN AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum
I found this gem when I was writing a feature all about summer body prep (read that here) and I haven’t let it out of my sight since. A body serum with a difference, the formula is enriched with lactic acid that removes dead skin cells from the skin’s surface to leave skin soft, smooth and glowing, which is just what I needed after wrapping up all winter. If you’re not a fan of gritty exfoliators or want to exfoliate quickly with no mess, this is the product to try.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Amethyst Eau de Parfum

I know you should never judge a fragrance by its bottle but it was hard not to with Nirvana Amethyst by Elizabeth and James. Luckily, its exterior mirrors the beauty of what’s inside: a sensuous oriental floral perfume with honeysuckle facets. Even though I usually steer toward citrus scents in spring, Nirvana Amethyst has been my go-to evening aroma over the last month, it’s spicy and dark with just the right amount of sweetness.

bareMinerals Crystalline Glow Bronzer & Highlighter Palette

It doesn’t matter if it’s pouring down with rain or it’s a heatwave, I am always on the hunt for glow-boosting makeup, and this month’s find is a 3-piece palette from bareMinerals. With a bronzer, highlighter and blusher all included it really is a glow go-to. The formulas blend seamlessly into the skin and create a really natural, yet sculpted result – I had so many compliments when I wore this!
