Everything You Need To Know About My Clarins

Clarins My Clarins Skincare Range

My first encounter with Clarins skincare was over ten years ago. I was at a friends grandparents house, and when I went into the bathroom I was faced with a skincare collection to envy all skincare collections; from the cleanser to the moisturisers, everything was Clarins, and it looked every bit luxurious all lined-up side by side. Later, I asked my friends’ grandmother about her enviable stash, to which she replied: “my mother got me started on it”. Since then I’ve encountered this saying time, and time again, all because Clarins formulas as so reliable and effective you can’t help but recommend them (myself included).

Up until now, grandmothers, mothers, or just friends that love Clarins could recommend the Clarins Daily Energisers range to 18 to 29-year-olds, but sadly it’s being discontinued. But, it’s all for a good reason: to make room for new! The just-launched collection is called My Clarins, and it’s focused on naturality, doing good for the skin, and I’ve been testing it over the last few weeks. Here’s what you need to know…

What’s My Clarins?

My Clarins is an up to 95% natural, vegan skincare collection aimed at teenagers and young adults looking for either their first products, an entry to luxury skincare or just people who love Clarins. It would be unfair to leave it at that though because after researching this range and putting the products to the test there’s much more to My Clarins than meets the eye.

It’s Plant-Based

7 of the 9 products in the range have a really high natural ingredients percentage, with a few going as high as 95%! These include fruits, floral waters, plant extracts, plus there’s no trace of parabens, sulfates or phthalates. The range is completely vegan and what’s even better is that My Clarins will not be sold in any countries that require animal testing.

Goodness In, Nasties Out

In a nutshell, My Clarins is all about enhancing skin, not completely changing it. It focuses on hydration and radiance to improve the skin’s overall health. Two main ingredients of coconut water and alpenrose extract are behind Clarins’ ‘Goodness In, Nasties Out’ mantra; coconut water keeps goodness in by optimising cell nutrition, while alpenrose extract pulls pollutants out with its detoxifying effect. My Clarins also helps to protect from the impact pollution has on the skin (ageing and dullness) thanks to added My Clarins Anti-Pollution Plant-Based Complex.

Eco-Conscious Packaging

My Clarins isn’t just promising to do good for skin; it’s doing its bit for the environment too. Each box is made from recycled cardboard from sustainably-managed forests.

All Skin Types

The range isn’t for one skin type but it does have different product options to choose from, which moves nicely into the next part of this post: the products!

RE-MOVE

Clarins My Clarins Cleansers
My Clarins Re-Move Micellar Cleansing Milk

There’s not a cleansing step more soothing or comforting than this. The Micellar Cleansing Milk has a lightweight, milky texture that removes makeup and gently rids skin of dirt and pollutants while delivering hydration thanks to added fig extract. The formula is made from 89% natural ingredients, which makes it a great fit for sensitive skin!

My review: This removes makeup really easily, which I was surprised at because I haven’t had great experiences with micellar milks in the past. Really refreshing, I’d recommend this for anyone with easily irritated skin looking for a cleansing routine that’s not harsh on their complexion.

My Clarins Re-Move Purifying Cleansing Gel

If you want squeaky clean skin without the dryness, the My Clarins Purifying Cleansing Gel will pique your interest. With a whopping 91% natural ingredients, this lightweight, lathering foam cleanser delicately removes traces of makeup, pollutants and dead skin cells with meadowsweet extract, while orange flower water keeps the complexion soft and fresh.

My review: I don’t have a bad word to say about this cleanser. It left my skin feeling completely clean; it felt as if I’d had a facial actually! It can be used by all skin types but I’d definitely recommend it more to a normal to oily skin type. For those looking for hydration opt for the micellar instead, or if your skin’s normal you could opt for a double cleanse and use both!

RE-FRESH

Clarins My Clarins Face Mist

My Clarins Re-Fresh Hydrating Beauty Mist

Hydration has never smelt so good! This floral-fruity facial mist is designed to give the complexion a big boost of moisture with its 90% natural formula. In the ingredients list, there’s everything from nourishing coconut water and fig extract to detoxifying alpenrose extract and softening robina flower water. The result? Skin that’s fresh and revitalised whether used in the morning, evening or on-the-go.

My review: If you’re an avid reader of the Escentual blog then you’ll know I’m a big fan of facial mists. I have tried many in my time so I’d say I’m up to the task of reviewing this one. The main thing I adore about Re-Fresh is the ultra fine mist it sprays (you barely feel it hit your skin); others I have tried have left my face soaking wet, which really isn’t ideal if you want a boost of hydration over your makeup!

RE-BOOST

My Clarins Re Boost Moisturisers

My Clarins Re-Boost Comforting Hydrating Cream

Dry skin will adore the whipped cream-like texture of this moisture because it packs nourishment aplenty. A match also for flaky, dehydrated and sensitive skin types, this lightweight, smooth formula has 95% natural ingredients including fig extract and shea butter for 24-hour hydration, plus acerola seed extract and tamarind fruit extracts to soothe and comfort redness and tightness.

My Clarins Re-Boost Refreshing Hydrating Cream

Is hydration #1 on your list when it comes to a moisturiser? If yes, the Refreshing Hydrating Cream’s the one for you. The light, melting cream-gel absorbs instantly, boosting the complexion with 89% natural ingredients. Designed to keep skin fresh all day long, its fusion of fig extract and goji berry give skin energy an invigorating moisture boost, while added tamarind fruit extract refines the skin’s texture.

My Clarins Re-Boost Matifying Hydrating Cream

Oily skin needs hydration too, and that’s where the Matifying Hydrating Cream comes in. The refreshing gel texture cocoons skin in 88% natural ingredients, including goji berry and fig extract, which are known for their moisturising qualities. This really has the best of both worlds; it minimises pores, shine and imperfections thanks to meadowsweet and strawberry tree fruit extract without drying out skin; instead, it’ll secure 8-hours worth of hydration and radiance.

My review: I love that there are 3 options here because I truly think everyone should have a moisturiser that suits their skin type. I road tested the Refreshing Hydrating Cream and I confirm the texture is as lovely as it sounds – my skin felt silky soft! A couple more reasons to write home about these moisturisers are, firstly, their scent, which is a fruity-based rose (it’s divine), and secondly, the fact that each has an added plant-based anti-pollution complex to help safeguard skin against aggressors. Big thumbs up from me!

RE-CHARGEClarins My Clarins Re-Charge Relaxing Sleep Mask

My Clarins Re-Charge Relaxing Sleep Mask

We’ve only had this on site a few days and the Relaxing Sleep Mask is already proving to be a big hit! Made with 93% natural ingredients, the overnight mask will press reset on your complexion. Inside, huang qi extract helps to keep skin clear, while fig extract hydrates and acerola seed extract encourages skin oxygenation. For use nightly, or a few times a week, this gel masks’ main aim is to keep your skin healthy.

My review: I’m going to jump right in and say it: this is my favourite product in the collection. I love a face mask, and I love them, even more, when they’re as easy as this. A mask you can use every day of the week, whatever your skin’s throwing at you; I found it really helped keep my skin clear and plump. And the icing on the cake? You don’t have to wash it off!

CLEAR-OUTClarins My Clarins Clear-Out Blemish Targeting Gel

My Clarins Clear-Out Blemish Targeting Gel

When you have a spot SOS the Blemish Targeting Gel will be at your service. The lightweight gel contains meadowsweet and persalaine, which when used directly onto a blemish helps take down inflammation and redness. Really gentle, this lightweight gel works to minimise imperfections without any tightness or over drying.

My review: When we get spots the first urge is to pick at it… but don’t! What I recommend is giving this a go instead. Designed to help speed up a spots departure, it’s a must-have for serial spot poppers (I know you’re out there). I had a few spots over the course of trying this range (see in the photo below) and I can say that this treatment definitely helped take down the redness and discomfort.

PORE-LESSClarins My Clarins Pore-Less Blur and Matte Stick

Clarins My Clarins Pore-Less Blur and Matte Stick Before and After

My Clarins Pore-Less Blur and Matte Stick

Blur and Matte Stick is the cutest product in the line-up, and it’s is an essential tool for keeping shine and pores at bay. Non-stripping and without any chalky residue in sight (it applies clear), this eraser has an instant absorbing action and leaves skin with a smooth, matte finish.

My review: I LOVE the scent of this blur stick. It’s infused with a natural strawberry aroma that’s a real treat to apply. But it’s smell isn’t the only reason why I love this, I also love this because it makes my skin super silky and prepped for makeup. It doesn’t completely get rid of your pores and shine but it does perfect and smooths the complexion.

Do I rate My Clarins?

So, the important part, would I recommend My Clarins? And the answer is a big… YES! My Clarins really is a wonderful skincare range that’s perfect for young skin. I love that it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, instead, it’s shouting about its naturality and doing good for the skin. It’s easy to get carried away with skincare nowadays, especially when there’s so much to try but this range has really made it hit home that you can’t beat good ingredients!
