Getting the #EscentualMe treatment this week is a 42-year-old Gardener from Essex. A lover of the outdoors (which comes with the territory of being a gardener, I imagine!) and the colour pink, our subject this week loves cooking, a cheeky G&T and fragrances like GUERLAIN’s cherry-filled La Petite Robe Noire. Let’s see if we can bring some fragrance inspiration into her life.

Your Perfect Perfume Fit

EscentualMe: Miller Harris Tender Eau de Parfum Spray

Miller Harris Tender Eau de Parfum Spray
For a perfect fit, I immediately thought about a garden, which led me to a perfume of flowers: Tender by Miller Harris. Tender is inspired by a passage of text from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel Tender is the Night, which fits nicely for our subject who likes to read a good book! The text speaks of “black and brown tulips and fragile mauve stemmed roses”, and for Tender the fragrance, legendary perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour created the scent of a neon garden at night. Tender is green and fizzy, buzzing with energy, opening with pink pepper and hyacinth before unfurling into a complex blend of greenery, petals, mosses and woods. The perfect thing for a gardener!

Your Fragrant Alter-Ego: The Nature Lover

EscentualMe: Acqua di Parma Peonia Nobile Eau de Parfum Spray

Now we pick an alter ego, and for our subject this week, I’m going for the nature lover. I wanted to choose a fragrance that tried to recreate something in nature, perhaps a flower, but I also wanted something that fit the personality of our subject – so I went for a photorealistic rendition of a pink peony in the form of Peonia Nobile by Acqua di Parma. This is the perfect peony fragrance. It’s like a pink quartz with the sharp, tart, rosy quality of roses and berries, with a mossy and musky base. Peonia Nobile is lightweight, glamorous and easy to wear – a jewel in nature’s bountiful garden.#

Your Wild Card Scent

EscentualMe: Serge Lutens L'Eau Froide Eau de Parfum Spray

And now for something completely off-book – something that I don’t think our subject would ever pick out for themselves. This is a fragrance of incense and herbs – a scent that is cool and austere. What drew me to pick this is the fact that it is evocative of the cool morning air, with chilly incense and icy mint bringing a bracing feel as rosemary and woods bring an unusual twist. It’s one of the more underrated fragrances in the Lutens collection (a collection awash with rich ambers and killer florals), and while it may be entirely new for our subject, I think it may just work with her love of nature.
