How To Nail Christmas Makeup With Only 1 Product

Getting into the festive spirit doesn’t have to stop at putting up your decorations. Your makeup can have a seasonal shake-up too. Whether it’s for your office Christmas party, or to make you feel extra special on the big day, adding a seasonal touch to your look is easy, and doesn’t have to cost a fortune either. Here are five products that’ll get your beauty routine merry and bright, even when you wear them alone…

Waiting For Your Lift? Swipe Red Lipstick

Let’s start with the obvious, shall we? The red lipstick. It’s a no-brainer when it comes to Christmas makeup. Nothing looks more festive than a swipe of red lippy – even if you’re wearing a completely unfestive outfit. So, if you’re looking to add a touch of ‘Christmas’ to your makeup with minimal effort, red lipstick is the safe bet. It’s not over the top, and you’ll use it all year long too – red lipstick isn’t just for Christmas after all.

My pick: Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream in 133 Sunrise Ruby

A Christmas lip must be three things; long-wearing, to withstand all the eating and drinking, comfortable (we don’t want dry lips to ruin the festivities), and lastly, it must have a jaw-dropping red hue. For me, L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream in Sunrise Ruby, a satin-finish, fiery ruby-red, ticks all of these boxes.

The creamy texture and long-wearing formula aren’t the only reasons I’ve picked Ruby Cream though – both the bullet and packaging play a big part. You get a chic button-activated case, and a ruby-shaped bullet that’s both beautiful to look at, and helps with getting your lipstick extra precise. Its packaging is so gorgeous, I find myself topping up my lipstick even when I don’t need to!

Taking Your Time? Apply Eyeshadow

Nothing says Christmas like gold, glittery eyes, and the great news is that it suits everyone, no matter your skin tone or eye colour. You can opt for something subtle for every day with a little sparkle all over the lid, or dial things up for your works do’ with packed-on pigment.

My pick: Urban Decay Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette

When it comes to golden eyes, the Naked Honey Palette is the only choice in my opinion. The 12 shade palette has a variety of honeyed hues in both matte and shimmer finishes to suit every mood. My favourite shade for this time of the year is Honey, a show-stopping yellow-gold. Above, I’ve paired it with Keeper, a soft-brown matte through the crease and Sting, a rich chocolate brown in the outer corner to create the ultimate festive smoky eye.

Tip: If you’re going for golden lids, keep your lip pared-back to let your eyes to do the talking.

Getting Ready on Route? Wear Highlighter

I’m not done with gold just yet; a golden highlighter is another one of my must-haves when it comes to Christmas makeup – it’s also a great option if you don’t want to commit to bold colour. Dust a little of this illuminator, on the high points of your face, and watch your complexion glow. Don’t just keep it for December either, golden highlighters look gorgeous year-round, especially during the summer months on sunkissed skin – you can tell yourself it’s an investment now!

My pick: GUERLAIN Terracotta Goldenland Illuminating Powder

If you’re a highlighter fan like me prepare to swoon. Goldenland stole my heart from the first swatch because it’s breathtaking. It’s a warm-toned gold shimmer that subtly enhances when dusted, or wows layered up – it’s up to you which you choose. For me, I like everyone to know I’m wearing highlight so I layer it on the high points of my face for a golden glow effect. And, after all the parties draw to a close I recommend keeping it close by – it’s a great remedy for tired skin.

Seconds to Spare? Spritz Setting Spray

There’s no time for makeup top-ups this time of the year. There are presents to wrap and mince pies to eat! But with that being said, we all still want our makeup to stay looking great. The solution? A setting spray, of course, but make it ‘Christmas’.

My pick: GUERLAIN Parure Gold Setting Mist

Say hello to the most luxurious setting spray you’ll ever come across; the Parure Gold Setting Mist. What I like to call bottled radiance, its fine spritz locks in makeup and diffuses skin with a subtle shimmer that’s more divine than disco ball (trust me). It doesn’t just beautify either, the formula is packed with antioxidants and glycerin to hydrate and protect, which we all need after a busy end of the year.

Ready Early? Bronze Your Body

Ceryn applying Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or Multi-Purpose Golden Dry Oil to the body

You caught me; this isn’t makeup, but trust me, a little glow on the decolletage, shoulders and down the centre of the legs will make you look and feel like a million dollars. And if a supermodel sheen isn’t selling it to you, what the cold weather will do to your skin will. I always stay nourished top to toe to keep winter skin at bay.

My pick: Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or Multi-Purpose Golden Dry Oil

Huile Prodigieuse Or is an underrated hero. Not everyone knows about it, but they should. The 98.1% natural origin formula contains hydrating plant oils, a bronze tint, and golden shimmer, which, when combined make skin glow. It’s a great finishing touch to your Christmas look, and will likely become your new staple for nights out – I never leave the house without spritzing some!

Tip: Brunettes, apply a small amount  to your hair for super shiny locks.
