5 of the Best Cocktail-Inspired Scents for Summer

5 of the Best Cocktail-Inspired Scents for Summer

What’s your summer tipple? For me, it’s a big glass of Pimm’s served with an even bigger jug of Pimm’s, from which I can refill my glass of Pimm’s when the aforementioned Pimm’s has run out. We always advocate drinking responsibly, of course, but cannot deny that a cheeky cocktail in the height of summer can be a very lovely thing indeed. So, with that in mind, we thought we’d have a go at finding some cocktail inspiration within our fragrance collection, pairing some of our favourite drinks with some delightful scents that either replicate or complement the character of sunny summer cocktails.

Whether you like to partake in a summer cocktail or not, this list gives you the spirit of some juicy, fruity and fun summer drinks without any of the hangovers. Just don’t drink them, OK?

1. Mojito

Cocktail Perfumes: Miller Harris Dance Amongst the Lace Eau de Parfum

For many, a big, minty mojito is a go-to cocktail. It’s filled with the tart freshness of lime, the cooling, herbaceous breeze of mint and hopefully a good slug of sugary white rum (oh and not too much ice, please). There are few things more refreshing in summer than a mojito (or two during happy hour…), and this bracing freshness is translated perfectly into Dance Amongst the Lace by Miller Harris. Dance is an ode to cow parsley (also known as Queen Anne’s Lace) via a wave of spearmint and peppermint with a twist of lime. Beautiful greenery – grassy vetiver and earthy moss – are carried softly on a cool breeze of woods and musk. Breathe it in because it is utterly delightful.

2. Cosmopolitan

Cocktail Perfumes: Guerlain Granada Salvia Eau de Toilette

Pretty, pink, glamorous and very “Sex and the City”, the cosmopolitan is an iconic cocktail that is decidedly simple on paper (vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and a twist of lime) but beautifully complex and satisfying in real life. The spirit of the cosmo is fun, fruity and pink, and Guerlain’s Granada Salvia is the perfect companion. With tart berry notes, a twist of pomegranate and the juiciest of rose notes, Granada Salvia captures the tension of the cosmo, with juiciness, bitterness, tartness and sweetness working in perfect harmony. Carrie would love it.

3. Pina Colada

Cocktail Perfumes: Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Eau de Toilette

Do you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain? If so, welcome to the British summer, we can offer you both of these things without issue. If, however, you would prefer something non-alcoholic served in a dry location, then may I point you in the direction of Le Beau by Jean Paul Gaultier. This beautiful brute of a scent blends sparkling bergamot with sweet, warm coconut wood and tonka bean to create a delightfully fresh scent with a creamy, nutty vibe. It’s so good you will want to spray it all over your body and go dance in the rain. Just don’t forget your clothes, because you know, that’s illegal.

4. Moscow Mule

Cocktail Perfumes: Juliette Has a Gun Moscow Mule Eau de Parfum

If like me, you love a ginger beer, then this one is for you. Of course, a Moscow mule has a bit more going on than just ginger beer (vodka and lime, mostly) but it is the zingy tang of ginger that makes it special. Juliette Has a Gun must be a fan of this zing because their Moscow mule perfume packs all of the big, bold flavours of the cocktail in an incredibly wearable scent that begs to be spritzed as refreshment on the hottest of days. In Juliette’s Moscow mule, bergamot, ginger, lime and jasmine are made diffusive and radiant by a clever trio of white musks, ensuring that the fragrance lasts longer on the skin than any cocktail would in its glass.

5. Aviation

Cocktail Perfumes: Guerlain Insolence Eau de Toilette

The aviation is a classic cocktail that pairs the herbal, mineral freshness of gin with the earthy, powdery and sweet tones of creme de violette; this is the most boujee cocktail on our list. The most flapper girl, riotous, night on the town, Great Gatsby cocktail there is, and for that reason, it needs a scent that is just as glam, if not more so. Enter Insolence Eau de Toilette, Guerlain’s most extravagant and raucous fragrance. Insolence captures the vibe of the aviation cocktail perfectly, with powdery iris, sweet violet, juicy raspberry and swathes of smooth vanilla. Insolence wears like a cloud, and while it’s made with top-notch materials and Guerlain’s historic artistry, it’s also a ton of fun.
