We’re all transitioning from wearing no makeup at home to wearing makeup underneath a mask. And so, there seemed like no better time to brush up on our skills and take a look at how we can get more from our makeup.

We asked Givenchy, one of my personal favourites when it comes to makeup, to share their expert tips on increasing the longevity and getting your money’s worth out of the products you buy…

1. Never Skip Primer

If you want to optimise the look of your foundation, and how long it lasts, primer is a must. They act as a barrier on the skin to ensure your complexion stays healthy, and whatever you put on top, stays flawless.

Many primers like Givenchy Mister Healthy Glow have added skincare benefits too that your skin will love; this tinted gel has glycerin in it which will keep your skin hydrated and your base locked-in.

2. Choose a Multi-Purpose Foundation

Foundations in 2020 offer far more than coverage alone. Opt for a base that can offer you more, and your skin will reap the benefits. Look for added skincare benefits, SPF, blue light and pollution protection like Givenchy Teint Couture City Balm.

3. Use Your Foundation as Concealer

Apply your foundation as normal all-over your face, then take a little more on a concealer brush to cover any imperfections.

4. Apply Lipstick to Your Cheeks as Blush

One of the oldest makeup tricks in the book! Dab a little of the lipstick you’re wearing onto your cheeks – it’s the easiest way to add a bit of colour to your complexion and ties your look together.

5. Set, Set, Set!

If you want your makeup to go the distance, set it with a powder. If you’re worried about losing your skin’s glow opt for Givenchy Prisme Libre; this loose powder will set your look, while colour-correcting, and brightening.

6. Use Your Fingers

Some makeup applies better with your fingers. A great example of this is shimmer eyeshadows; the warmth of your finger will melt the formula so that you get the best pigment pay-off.

7. Wear Eyeshadow as Eye Liner

Whether you’re scared of liquid liner or want more uses for the eyeshadow palette you’ve bought, eyeshadow as liner is a great go-to, plus it’s a lot softer on the eyes.

8. Don’t Settle for Mediocre

Don’t settle for mediocre makeup, but especially not mascara. Find one that gives great volume and length in one coat instead of layering-up, wasting time, and ending up with a spidery finish. Givenchy Volume Disturbia is my recommendation – the proof is in the IGTV!

9. Lock-in Your Brows

If you’re putting effort into filling in your eyebrows make sure they stick around. Givenchy Mister Brow Groom is a must-have in every makeup in my opinion; not only does the brow gel lock brow hairs in place (and I mean LOCK) it also contains conditioning ingredients that promote hair growth.

10. Swap to a Semi-Matte Lipstick

Switching from a satin to a semi-matte lipstick may be the best solution if you want your lipstick to go the distance. Luckily, you won’t lose out on the hydrating benefits if you opt for Givenchy Le Rouge as it contains hyaluronic acid.

Tip: Dust Prisme Libre Powder over your lipstick to turn it matte.
