The Amouage collection wouldn’t be complete with Overture Woman, a new-for-2022 Eau de Parfum with a sauve, sophisticated and utterly luxurious amber-woody tone. It’s inspired by a night at the opera, and, what I will say, is that Overture Woman puts in a show-stopping performance.

This Fragrance Smells Like…
Created by Master perfumer Annick Menardo, Overture Woman is a rich, heady fragrance that brings together some of the world’s rarest and most sought-after ingredients. An Eau de Parfum with an impressive 20% fragrance oil to offer impressive strength and longevity, Overture Woman opens with a vibrant, sparkling citrus-green bergamot note, spiced saffron and the rich, boozy apple note of calvados. These notes are contrasted by the unexpected velvety softness of rose centifolia, geranium and myrrh at the heart. As the fragrance develops, earthy, balsamic frankincense is brought together with ambery labdanum and seductive smoked leather for a rich, opulent and sophisticated aroma.
What’s The Story Behind This Scent?
Overture Woman is in honour of the modern woman who’s bold, cultured and full of mystique. The Overture Woman is a confident young opera understudy who’s given an opportunity of a lifetime, jumping in with just a few short hours to spare. Waiting for the orchestra to finish playing the overture, she checks her gown comprising layer upon layer of silk organza adorned with intricate beads and pearls. Her look is complete with long, dramatic gloves.
Amouage’s Chief Experience Officer, Renaud Salmon, explains: “Overture Woman is a timeless performance of elegance and grandeur immortalised in scent. Just a spritz or two evokes an essence of self-assured beauty and glamour that treats even the simplest of occasions with the fanfare of an evening at the opera.”
You Will Love This If…
If you love warm, heady and luxurious scents, you’ll love Overture Woman; it’s a woody-amber fragrance that’s nothing short of hypnotic.
This Perfume Smells Similar To:
You can clearly tell that this is an Overture fragrance; it has the same sense of luxury as the men’s version, and it has a few of the same notes too – saffron, geranium, myrrh and leather included – but it’s got a slightly less heavily spiced finish and a softer floral edge.
Is Amouage Overture Woman Unisex?
Fragrance has no gender to us – as long as you enjoy wearing it, that’s all that matters. Although, as the name suggests, this is the female fragrance in the Overture collection, I personally think anyone would enjoy wearing this.
What’s The Longevity Like?
When I tried Overture Woman out, I could still make out its warm leathery undertones an impressive eight hours after application.
What’s Special About The Bottle?
Amouage’s signature double-walled glass bottle is presented in a frosted finish, topped with a bronze crown that brings out the warm hues of the brandy-coloured fragrance within. Even the marbled box it’s held in is a thing of beauty.
