I love the original Devotion. It’s a delicious perfume that’s created by one of my favourite perfumers, Olivier Cresp. He’s the mastermind behind iconic fragrances like Lancome La Vie Est Belle and YSL Black Opium. When it comes to gourmand scents, he’s one of the best in my opinion. Devotion Intense is Cresp’s latest creation; here’s my review…

What Does It Smell Like?
The hazelnut note really caught my attention. It’s rich, warm, and almost roasted, giving the fragrance this creamy, nutty feel that’s comforting but still elegant. The hazelnut blends beautifully with a soft vanilla sweetness and some underlying warmth, maybe from amber or woods – it gives the scent depth so it’s not too sweet. It feels indulgent but balanced, like a gourmand scent that’s refined rather than overpowering. I keep coming back to it; it’s warm, cosy, and a little addictive.
Top Notes: Hazelnut.
Heart Notes: Orange Blossom.
Base Notes: Vanilla.
How Does It Compare To The Original Devotion?
Devotion is much lighter and brighter—it opens with these fresh, candied citrus notes, along with a bit of ginger to give it a bit of a zing. In the heart, it softens into a delicate orange blossom, which adds a bit of floral sweetness, and the base has vanilla, so there’s still some creaminess, but it’s more subtle and light overall. It’s fresh, sweet, and feminine.
Devotion Intense, on the other hand, is richer and more gourmand. The hazelnut in Devotion Intense really stands out—it’s creamy, nutty, and almost roasted, giving it a warm feel. It’s more of a cosy, indulgent scent, with the vanilla in this one being much sweeter and fuller. There’s also this luxurious warmth underneath that adds depth. So while Devotion is more about bright citrus and soft florals, Devotion Intense has a warmer composition with hazelnut and vanilla really taking over. It’s definitely a more luxurious, heavier take on the original.
How Long Does Devotion Intense Last?
Devotion Intense has great longevity. I sprayed it first thing in the morning and I could still smell it on my skin and clothes when I was getting ready for bed in the evening – some 10 hours later!
When’s The Best Time To Wear Devotion Intense?
The best time to wear Devotion Intense is, in my opinion, during the cooler months, like autumn and winter. The rich hazelnut and creamy vanilla notes create a warm, cosy vibe that feels perfect for crisp weather. It’s a scent that really comes alive in the cold, wrapping you up in that luxurious, nutty sweetness. I’d also say it shines in the evening – it has that depth and richness that makes it feel more suited to night-time when you want something a bit more captivating and bold.
Who’s The Face of Dolce & Gabbana Devotion Intense?
Singer Katy Perry is the face of the Devotion range. For this release, the original Devotion campaign imagery is being used – stunning shots of Perry in Capri, Italy.
