Rated 5 out of 5 by Ciel from TLDR Conclusion: It Works Having never used this type of product before, I didn't really know what to expect or what sort of time-frame was required before I saw results. This is not a type of product I've ever considered using or needed, however after putting on a not insignificant amount of weight, then losing some, I had developed some lumpiness on my thighs which I had never had before. This is quite an expensive product that I think most people would want to consider carefully before buying, so this will be a long, thorough review. I had heard of this on some beauty websites where it was listed among holy grail products and as the only cellulite-targeting cream that actually works. Knowing Clarins' reputation, I decided to give it a go. As it is quite an expense, I decided I wanted to put it through its paces and test it rigourously. I wanted to make sure the results were due to using this cream and not because of some other lifestyle changes such as diet/exercise etc. Therefore, I decided to do a little scientific experiment. I would only use it on one leg for a whole month and see if there were any differences between the two after that time. Starting a couple of months before the summer meant that I would have time to sort any differences before shorts season started. Firstly, the texture. It's a sort of hybrid gel-cream texture that's cool to the touch and non-greasy. Very pleasant to use. The scent is something fresh that I can't quite put my finger on, but it dissipates quickly. On the leaflet, Clarins instructs that you use it once a day and use their special technique of massaging it into your skin. There are instructions and pictures to guide you. When you apply it, there is a fresh, almost tingly (not stinging) feeling, a bit like products with some sort of mint/menthol extract. The cream glides on smoothly and retains enough slip to complete the massage strokes as instructed. I noticed that if you try to rub too much, it does end up pilling, but it shouldn't be a problem if you stay within the guidelines. With something at this price, it might be tempting to scrimp on the amount of product you use, but you can be generous with it. The bottle lasted me a few months and you really don't need another one after that, so I think you should just do it properly the first time around. Onto the results. After two weeks, I could already see a definite difference between the two legs. When I pressed down into my thigh, there was very little sign of any dimpling on the treated leg, but there was very visible dimpling on the untreated leg. Even the contour of the treated thigh had smoothed, wheras the outline of the untreated leg was lumpy in a few places. From this difference, I could conclude that any changes were due to the cream and not any lifestyles changes that may have happened. Unfortunately, I did not have the foresight to take before and after pictures at the time. Having seen visible results a lot sooner than I'd expected, I decided to stop using it for two weeks to see if the results would hold. I'm glad to say that even after this much time, the differences remained. After this, I decided to start using it again, this time on both legs and twice a day on the untreated leg to catch up. Even after finishing my bottle, the results have remained, but I do take care with my lifestyle too. I don't think you can continue with a bad diet and lifestyle and expect to keep the changes. Clarins does not market this as a weight-loss product and neither should they. They simply state that it smoothes contours and cellulite, improving the appearance of those areas. To this end, I can say that it completely works and was defnintely worth the money.
