What Does The Big Bad Cedar Eau de Parfum Smell Like?

A moody, brooding and windswept ‘Heathcliffean’ fragrance, The Big Bad Cedar is a stormy interpretation of the Scottish Highlands and the Virginian cedar. Created by expert perfumer Maurice Rouceleau, The Big Bad Cedar starts at the summit where a cold, fragrant and aromatic Highland breeze is perfumed with tart lemon and softly spiced cardamom cuts through the landscape. Sweet, herbaceous clary sage mingles with broom - a common shrub common on heathlands and sea cliffs - as they trigger the descent into the fragrance’s ultra-woody heart. The resinous sap of Virginian cedarwood, left splendidly sombre in its nearly untouched natural state, takes centre stage and holds its own throughout the heart before a dense undergrowth of gleaming cashmeran and tree moss pushes its way in.

Top notes are Cardamom, Lemon, Clary Sage, Broom. Heart notes are Virginia Cedarwood Essence. Base notes are Moss, Cashmeran.

Why it’s Escentual:

Picture the scene: unimaginably turbulent skies loom overhead, craggy mountains are visible wherever you turn, and a smoky peat fire crackles beside the icy cool, mineral-laced water of the loch ahead. It’s dusk, and the scarcely cultivated scent of cedar fills the air, forever epitomising the essence of earth, wood and fire; this is the scent of Atkinsons The Big Bad Cedar.

Perfumer Maurice Roucel has created a coniferous fragrance as noble as the Highlands itself. It’s rich and earthy, making it oddly familiar and reminiscent of walks through a British woodland, forest, moor or mountainside on those days when the dark, mysterious weather makes everything feel all the more adventurous. But the fragrance still feels undeniably luxurious and a little bit sensual, showcasing Atkinsons’ perfume prowess.
