What Does Parfums de Marly Haltane Smell Like?
Haltane kickstarts with a vibrant freshness as an aromatic duo of clary sage and lavender are lifted by a sunny touch of citrus-green bergamot. The heart is rich, opulent and utterly captivating: softly spiced saffron gently warms up balsamic cedarwood and leathery, resinous oud wood, which is balanced by a surprisingly sweet praline accord. This adds a fresh, modern tone that ensures the oud accord doesn't become too dark without allowing the sugar-coated, nutty facet of praline to become sickly sweet.
As the fragrance warms on your skin, its sensual, sophisticated base of smooth yet smoky leather, earthy patchouli, grassy vetiver and luminous agarwood and musks results in a deeply long-lasting signature.Top notes are Bergamot, Lavender, Clary Sage. Heart notes are Saffron, Cedarwood, Praline, Oudwood. Base notes are Patchouli, Vetiver, Musk, Leather, Natural Agarwood.
Why It’s Escentual:
Haltane Eau de Parfum is a very clever fragrance; it plays with some really bold, powerful fragrance notes - like oudwood and leather - but it never feels too dark or heavy. This is thanks to its lighter, brighter touches, like bergamot and sweet, nutty praline. The end result is a really well-balanced signature that cleverly toys with radiance and shadow.
And if you love deeply long-lasting signatures, then you’ll adore Haltane; when we first tried this Eau de Parfum, we were massively impressed by its strength and longevity. Not that we’d expect anything less from the niche fragrance house, Parfums de Marly, of course.
Any fan of the brand will also recognise the emblematic bottle. This time, the flacon is dressed in a muted green hue that nods to the earthy, herbal notes within. The raised emblem on the front completes the look, while honouring Parfums de Marly’s French heritage; it nods to the Chevaux de Marly, a pair of marble sculptures commissioned by Louis XV of France in 1743.
