I can't say it was an unalloyed success, but this may have been due to the people who used it on me! One was my sister, who was also unfamiliar with dry shampoo and complained of the fumes (probably didn't use enough) and the second a carer who went to town in a spectacular fashion, blasting away and using nearly half the can. Cue a very lumpy hair of hair full of product. I've kept the shampoo and will have a go myself once I can use my arm again. The jury is therefore out.
