Foundations don’t get much more iconic than Forever. That’s why when DIOR announced they were reformulating it back in January, the beauty world took a big gulp, myself included. Millions of people could have been without their go-to base had this update gone wrong, but in true DIOR style, Forever returned even better than before, and with a different name, Forever Matte.
Forever didn’t just relaunch with innovative skincare ingredients and a luxurious new bottle, no that would be too obvious. The best-selling foundation returned with an offering for every skin type. We now have Forever Matte, and Forever Skin Glow. Glow offers the original Forever’s long-lasting, full-coverage formula in a radiant finish. No wonder Natalie Portman loves this franchise so much!

Is DIOR Forever Foundation being discontinued?
Hopefully, this edit has provided you with this answer. But, to cut a long story short; the original has been discontinued and replaced with an updated matte version, and a new glow version.
How is Forever Matte different to the discontinued Forever?
Fans of the original will be happy to know that the change is negligible. The formula feels the same, and looks the same (your skin will look as flawless as before), and lasts even longer – 24 hours to be exact. The only things to note are new ingredients: pansy extract, which provides a dose of hydration, and rosehip extract which protects against external aggressors.
The new shades are also worth highlighting. The original Forever’s shades tended to lean more to the pink side, but now yellow and green undertones are catered for too.
How is Forever Skin Glow different to Forever Matte?
It’s as simple as the finish on the skin is different. Skin Glow will leave the complexion with dewy-satin effect, while Matte offers a natural-looking velvet finish. The hero ingredients are the same; you’ll still get the moisturising power of pansy extract and the pollution protection from rosehip extract, plus the luxe glass bottle, but this time it has Skin Glow stamped on the front.
Will DIOR Forever Foundation cause flashback?
No. Every before and after photo in this edit (scroll to see them) has been taken with flash and there’s not a ghostly complexion in sight!
How do I choose the right Forever Foundation shade?
Worried that more options mean it’s harder to find your match? Don’t worry, DIOR’s made it easy by splitting the line-up into fair, light, medium and dark. So, find the skin tone that’s the closest match to you then consider your undertone (that’s what the letter in the shade name refers to). If you have cool undertones your skin will be slightly pink, red or blue; if you have warm undertones your skin will lean to peach, yellow, or golden; and if you’re neutral you’ll have a mixture of them all.
