If you’ve dabbled with cream blush a few years ago and didn’t get on with them, I’ve got good news for you; things have changed. Forget chalky or sticky formulas that were impossible to blend. Modern cream blushes with innovative textures and formulas mean that it’s easier to create a natural and luminous flush without looking in the least bit patchy or overdone.

Texture: thick and creamy.
Finish: radiant and illuminated finish, slightly iridescent.
Shade: available in two shades – peach or pink. I chose ‘Golden Peach’.
Scent: fresh, clean scent.
Apply: straight to the skin from the stick then blend with fingers, sponge or a brush.
Longevity: lasts all day, pigmented formula.
When I first laid eyes on this colour (Golden Peach) I thought it looked a tad scary, but don’t be alarmed. This orangey blush looks absolutely gorgeous blended out on tanned or dark skin and leaves a subtle luminescent finish to the cheeks with a splash of pigmented colour. Sheer it out for a natural effect or if you want a bit more of a pop, build it up by applying and blending out until you’re happy with the finish. And a bonus? The Clarins Glow 2 Go in Golden Peach also has a cream bronzer on the other end, so it’s perfect for traveling!
2. Best Cream Blush For Powder Lovers
Product: bareMinerals Bounce and Blur Blush – Shade Blurred Buff
Format: compact.
Texture: velvety cream to powder.
Finish: even and flawless diffused matte effect with a hint of luminosity.
Shade: available in a range of shades including nudes, corals, and pinks. I chose ‘Buff’ a peachy nude.
Scent: no scent
Apply: with fingers straight onto the apples of the cheeks
Longevity: needed touching up after 6 hours.
If you’re after a cream blush with an innovative texture, this is it. Specially developed to be applied with the fingers it delivers a soft wash of blurred colour to the cheeks with a diffused finish. But that’s not where it stops, Bounce and Blush contains a mineral complex that blurs the look of pores and imperfections while vitamin B also helps to minimise pesky pores. For someone like me, who suffers from enlarged pores on my cheeks, I can vouch for the fact it works!
3. Best Cream Blush For A Natural Finish
Product: Shiseido Minimalist WhippedPowder Blush – Shade 03 Momoko
Format: cream in a pot.
Texture: fluffy, whipped formula.
Finish: soft, matte finish.
Shade: available in a range of shades from peachy nudes to bright pinks and oranges. I chose Eiko – a browny nude.
Scent: no scent.
Apply: Fingertips, sponge or a brush.
Longevity: it lasted on me all day.
Just one word to describe the formula of the Shiseido Whipped Powder Blush – incredible. I used Eiko – a brown nude shade with tiny gold flecks running through it that gives me the best of both worlds when applied to the face. This is because the formula is matte so gives a natural powder-looking finish but the iridescent particles create a subtle luminosity that looks beautiful on the skin as it catches the light. The texture is fluffy but I find I get the best results and control with this when applied with a brush.
