Philip Kingsley Body Building Range Review

Philip Kingsley Body Building Range Review

If you struggle with limp, flat and flyaway-prone hair, then you’re going to want to hear all about the Philip Kingsley Body Building range; I’ve been learning all about the collection and putting it to the test – and it’s fair to say that I’m impressed. Read on to find out everything you need to know…

The Most Important Thing About The Philip Kingsley Body Building Collection Is…

This is the Philip Kingsley range you’re going to want to get your hands on if you want a boost of volume. The hair care line has over 900 5-star reviews on their site, and I’m sure the range will prove just as popular here at Escentual.

Just like all Philip Kingsley hair care, the Body Building range is created by trichologists – that’s experts in the scalp and hair, to me and you. It’s been created to boost body and bounce without compromising on the health of your hair and scalp. And yes, it has everything you need to achieve weightless, full-bodied tresses by offering a complete regime – shampoo, conditioner, UV-protectant spray and leave-in cream included.

What Hair Type Is It For?

It’s perfect for fine, flat and flyaway hair.

You Will Love This Range If…

If you’ve tried other volumising hair solutions, but you’ve struggled to find one that you love using (because, let’s face it – if a product isn’t pleasant to use, it’s hard to stay loyal to it), then this might be the one for you. Yes, it works really hard, but it’s also got comfort and pleasure in mind too; it’s been carefully created to deliver touchable volume without causing that unwanted stickiness or heaviness traditionally associated with volumising hair care.

Hero Ingredients:

A few of the ingredients in the Philip Kingsley Body Building collection overlap, but I’ll give you a quick rundown of each formula so that you know exactly what’s in each and why:

The Body Builder Shampoo: This hair wash controls flyaways and static using copolymers, while natural cellulose plumps and thickens fine strands. To complete the mix, keratin proteins strengthen your hair and improve its overall fullness.

The Body Builder Conditioner: This volumising conditioner uses wheat protein to strengthen, volumise and plump hair strands. It also smooths cuticles, adds gloss and detangles lock using behentrimonium chloride whilst shine-boosting silicone reduces static.

The Body Builder Spray: Surface resins add volume and hold for styling, while protein and conditioning agents work hard to smooth and protect your tresses. UV protectors are also featured to shield your hair from sun damage and help prevent colour from fading.

The Body Builder Cream: Wheat protein is back; just like it laces the conditioner, this active is also found in the leave-in cream to boost volume, while a multi-vitamin complex has been added to leave your hair smooth, shiny and easy to control.

What Does Each Item Feel Like?

Each product has a unique texture to suit its purpose, but they all feel lightweight and leave your hair feeling volumised and bouncy without feeling sticky, tacky or weighed down. But what are the individual textures like? The shampoo has a clear liquid gel texture that lathers really easily, while the conditioner and cream actually have a pretty similar feel as they have an almost silky, creamy liquid gel-like finish that remains soft and nourishing throughout the application process. The spray has a really fine mist format so you can disperse it easily throughout your hair.

What Does The Range Smell Like?

When I smell the Body Building range, I instantly think: ‘premium hair care’. The products all have a fairly similar sweet tone but differ in their concentration. I would say that the strongest smelling formula is the no-rinse Plumping Cream, which is laced with the sweet, perfumed aroma of cherry blossom.

How Do You Use The Products?

To get the most out of your hair care routine, it’s always a great idea to use products in the same range as they’ve been created to complement each other. To use the Body Building range, start by cleansing your hair with shampoo by working it into wet roots for 60 seconds before rinsing it out. You can also wash your hair again using the shampoo, if you want extra-volumising results. Then, work the conditioner through the mid-lengths and the ends of your hair before rinsing. Once you’ve stepped out of the shower and towel-dried your lengths, spritz the spray onto your roots for lift or throughout your lengths for overall volume. Finish by working the cream throughout your hair and styling it as you gently blow dry it.

What’s Special About The Design Of The Range?

Philip Kingsley is on a mission to adopt more sustainable packaging solutions, even going as far as to research all the viable alternatives to virgin plastic. They settled on sugarcane bioplastic made from sugarcane-derived ethanol, which is even classed as carbon negative due to the amount of carbon dioxide naturally absorbed by sugarcane whilst it is being grown.

But that’s not all; this bioplastic is also 100% recyclable. They’ve also ditched outer cardboard packaging, so you just get the bottles or tubes you order; there’s no unnecessary packaging found here.

I also love the fact that each product in the Philip Kingsley Body Building line features a strip of sunshine yellow to clearly indicate which formulas you need to add to your collection!

Values?

All Philip Kingsley products are cruelty-free; the Body Building Weightless Conditioner is also vegan.
