What Are The Different Types Of Hair Loss?
Before we reveal the results of our four-week test, I’m here to help you identify the type of hair loss you’re experiencing, so you can find an effective solution to treat your concern at home.
There are three main types of hair loss:
Shedding: This occurs when the growth pattern is interrupted, forcing too many hairs prematurely into the resting phase resulting in increased hair fall out. Hair shedding is usually a temporary problem and is most often seen by visible hair loss in the shower or hair brush.
Pattern Hair Loss: This is a genetic condition where sensitivity to DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) causes the hair follicles to minimise resulting in shorter and finer hair over time, usually in patches. This condition is more common in men as they have higher levels of DHT, but all genders can experience pattern hair loss.
Increased Breakage: This is not technically hair loss but can look very similar. Fragile hair can snap along the hair shaft resulting in less growth. Although it’s not a type of hair loss, it can be seen alongside other types and requires strengthening treatments.

Why Did You Want To Try The Philip Kingsley Density Range?
I’ve followed Philip Kingsley for a while and have always loved their haircare. Unfortunately, I’ve suffered from alopecia with visibly thinning hair at the front of my scalp and I had heard amazing things about Philip Kingsley’s Density Scalp Drops, so I was super excited to see they had launched at Escentual.

I’ve got to say the Philip Kingsley Scalp Drops! I’ve wanted them for ages and they did not disappoint; my hair feels healthier, fuller and less dry after each use.
What Results Have You Seen From Your 4-Week Trial?
I started to see an improvement in the fullness and health of my hair after just two weeks. After four weeks, my hair feels fantastic. I can’t stop touching it; I’ve noticed small amounts of regrowth in my emptier patches and my hair is denser overall. My friends and family have complimented the thickness and shine of my hair in recent weeks, so that’s an added bonus.

- Nourish Your Body: The biggest thing I’ve learnt is that your diet impacts your hair and it’s important to ensure you eat protein and vitamin-rich foods.
- Make time for self-care: looking after your body and hair can really impact your confidence and help your mental health.
- Use a silk turban: silk turbans are great to prevent pulling when you’re sleeping as they prevent resistance that can lead to fall out.
