Jean Paul Gaultier Divine Eau de Parfum Spray Review

Jean Paul Gaultier Divine Eau de Parfum Spray Review

I’m always on tenterhooks to smell Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest creations and see what twist he’s put on the iconic bottle design. Divine is the designer’s latest masterpiece, and it’s something different to what we’ve seen and smelt before. Let’s get a closer look…

This Fragrance Smells Like…

It has an uplifting, youthful energy. On the first spritz, it smells beachy and fresh and has a saltiness before it becomes fruity and sweet. After a few moments, you can detect the meringue, which gives the composition a delicious more-ish quality. The dry down is creamy and smooth, almost vanilla-like, paired with a bouquet of white flowers that are elegant and slightly powdery.

What’s The Story Behind This Scent?

Divine, like many Jean Paul Gaultier perfumes, celebrates femininity. Divine is all about confidence, liberation and being extraordinary just as you are.

You Will Love This If…

If bright summery scents are your vice, you’ll adore Divine. It’s bright and youthful but sexy and elegant all at once. Because it’s a blend of sweet, salty and musky, it’s a summer scent that I think works year-round and day and night.

This Perfume Smells Similar To:

Divine’s salty, creamy and sweet scent reminds a bit of Paco Rabanne Olympea Solar – Divine has better longevity in my opinion.

Is Divine Unisex?

Divine is a fragrance marketed toward women. It has a summery white floral aroma that’s traditionally seen as more feminine, however, at Escentual, we strongly believe that your nose should be the only thing to choose what scent you wear. If you like how it smells, it should be yours.

What’s The Longevity Like?

It has great staying power! I applied it first thing in the morning, around 8:30 am, and at lunchtime, I could still smell it – I’d say you get a 6-hour strong wear time.

What’s Special About The Bottle?

All Jean Paul Gaultier bottles are torso – either male or female. For this fragrance for women, the designer has dressed the female body in a show-stopping gold torso. It reminds me of the conical bra Madonna wore on the ‘Blond Ambition’ World Tour in 1990 – an iconic pop culture moment. The 50ml and 100ml versions of the perfume are also refillable.
