GIVENCHY Prisme Libre Mattifying & Blurring Setting Loose Powder

When it comes to luxury beauty, GIVENCHY has always been at the forefront of innovation, and its iconic Prisme Libre Powder is no exception.

Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Claire Mulleady, the international makeup artist for GIVENCHY, to discuss the 2024 updates to this beloved product. Claire shared some exciting insights about the new formulation, packaging, and how it can be seamlessly integrated into your makeup routine.

The Prisme Libre Powder has always been unique due to its four colours in one compact. This feature remains, but GIVENCHY have adjusted the shades to make them even more effective at correcting and unifying the skin tone.

What’s Changed?

How does the 2024 formulation differ from the previous version?

Claire Mulleady: The new formula is 46% lighter, nearly half the original’s weight. We’ve achieved this by highly micronizing the powder, making it ultra-fine. Technology has advanced, allowing us to create a powder that feels and looks incredibly lightweight on the skin. It offers 24-hour matte radiance and a 12-hour blurring effect, which is more effective than before.

How do the 4 colours work together?

Claire Mulleady: The four colours are designed to be mixed, following colour theory principles. However, you can also use them separately to target specific areas for colour correction. This powder’s versatility is what makes it so special.

How has the packaging evolved as well?

Claire Mulleady: Absolutely! The lid design has been updated to align with the rest of the Prisme Libre range, giving it a more modern and luxurious look. Although the weight of the powder has been reduced, you get the same amount of uses; the lighter formula ensures that it lasts just as long and is just as effective.

Can you tell us more about the technology?

Claire Mulleady: We’ve incorporated a new “Prismatic Light Technology.” which involves advanced light reflectors and particles that fit together seamlessly to scatter light across the face. The result is a smooth, texture-free finish that almost resembles a cream on the skin. It provides more dimension and cares for the skin, giving it a healthier appearance.

How would you recommend using the powder in a daily makeup routine?

Claire Mulleady: The Prisme Libre Powder is perfect as the final step in your makeup routine. It comes with a puff that you can use for an all-over application, which gives a non-flat, natural finish. If you prefer more precision, a small brush—like an eyeshadow blending brush—can target specific areas like the T-zone around the nose, top lip, and eyebrows.

What’s the benefit of the loose powder vs the pressed powder?

Claire Mulleady: I recommend using the loose powder to set your makeup in the morning. As you go about your day, the pressed powder can be used for touch-ups. It’s convenient with its mirror and brush, providing additional blurring and dimensional effects as needed.

Our First Impressions

I gave 00 a try, and I love how soft and brightening powder is! I think it looks natural and skin-like. It’s great for the camera; as you can see, it blurs well and makes my skin look a lot smoother than without it. It helped take shine but still kept my skin looking healthy and even.

The powder looks, feels and smells like luxury. It comes with a little puff so you can set your makeup easily too.

The Shades

00 – Tulle Opalescent

00 is brand new for 2024 and is the shade to choose from if you have fair skin with dull tones. The soft lilac, white, and cream harmony brightens the skin and boots’ radiance and corrects any dullness/ yellow tones.

01 – Mousseline Pastel

01 is the most popular shade in the range, as it helps counteract redness, yellow, and dark spots. The green, blue, pink, and lilac harmony is loved by fair to light skin tones, making everything look more even and bright.

02 – Satin Blanc

02 is my most used shade from Prisme Libre, as its combination of white, cream, and apricot brightens up my lighter skin without looking too noticeable.

03 – Voile Rose

03 is one of my favourites in this collection as it has a subtle pink shift that helps brighten your skin and soften dullness and purple undertones.

04 – Mousseline Acidulee

04 was made for medium skin tones that have problems with redness and dark spots. The colour-correcting combination of green lilac blends beautifully with the peach and orange colours to create a glowy, more even finish.

05 – Popeline Mimosa

05  will suit skin with medium to deep skin with olive, warm and neutral undertones. The colour palette is a lot softer than 06. It features a muted soft peach/pink, pastel orange to counteract green, purple, blue and dullness.

06 – Organza Ambre

Shade 06 now includes an improved deeper peach, orangy coral colour designed for better colour correction.

Dark, deep skin tones often have underlying blue or purple undertones, especially in under-eye circles and hyperpigmentation. 06 also helps diffuse the appearance of redness and yellow/dark spots. Orange and peach tones work to neutralise and even out those colours.
