You don’t have to be born into royalty anymore. Thanks to Dolce&Gabbana, you can now spray the charm and courage of a king straight onto your pulse points. K by Dolce&Gabbana is the sovereign spritz in question, a fragrance for men first released in 2019 as an Eau de Toilette. Now, in 2020 I’m reviewing the latest member of the range, K Eau de Parfum. Will it be another crowning moment for Italian fashion house, Dolce&Gabbana? Let’s find out…
The Smell:
K is inspired by a man who is the king of his everyday life. Because of this, I expected the fragrance to be powerful yet wearable, and unsurprisingly, it is. Both the Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum say ‘look at me’ in a humble way.
If you’ve tried the original, this is a more intense version there’s no doubt about that. But Dolce&Gabbana haven’t ‘just’ dialled up the woodiness and sexiness – they’ve given the composition a rejig and added some new notes too. Whereas the Eau de Toilette opens citrus and floral, the Eau de Parfum’s first impression on the senses is warm and spicy. What both still have in common is that they present a great alternative to the fresh fragrances on the market.
The heart is where I think K Eau de Parfum comes into its own – the addition of fig milk gives the composition a creaminess that feels sophisticated and comforting. The base welcomes more wood notes than the Eau de Toilette, and the lasting impression is handsome, grown-up, and confident.
The Notes:
Fragrance Family: Woody-Spicy.
Top Notes: Italian Lemon, Blood Orange, Juniper Berry, Cardamom.
Heart Notes: Clary Sage, Geranium, Lavandin, Fig Milk.
Base Notes: Cedarwood, Vetiver, Patchouli, Nagarmotha Wood.
The Bottle:
K Eau de Parfum continues the style of the original K Eau de Toilette bottle. It has a geometric design and is topped with the iconic crown cap, which is a burnished silver for this concentration. The main difference is the colour of the bottle; for the Eau de Parfum, the blue is deeper to reflect the intensity of the juice inside.
Is Dolce&Gabbana K Eau de Parfum Unisex?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it; I’m a firm believer that fragrance has no gender. But, if we’re talking about who the fragrance is targeted at, that’s men. But, if you like woody fragrance with a spicy-fresh twist – K is for you.
How Long Does K By Dolce&Gabbana Eau de Parfum Last?
As an Eau de Parfum, you can typically expect this fragrance to last on the skin for 8 hours. If you already own the original Eau de Toilette you’ll be surprised at the difference in longevity with this addition – I was, and I’d go as far as saying it’s one of the most long-lasting scents I’ve spritzed in a while. In terms of projection, K Eau de Parfum delivers; this isn’t a fragrance people need to lean in close to smell.

If you had to describe it in three words it would be: Fresh, citrusy, woody.
Describe K Eau de Parfum in more detail: K Eau de Parfum is a more intense version of the EDT. It includes cardamon, fig milk and nagarmotha for a more deep and intimate fragrance, which is also reflected in the beautiful deep blue coloured bottle and the silver crown featuring Lapis Lazuli crystal. Passionate and magnetic, I think it would be great layered over the EDT for the evening, or as a standalone fragrance.
Where would you wear it? My husband loved to wear this on the warm summer evenings we had this year. Whilst we couldn’t always go out for the evening, he would spritz even for a leisurely walk around the estate. It quickly became one of his favourites to wear, loving this spicy, woody and fresh fragrance.
What do you think K Eau de Parfum smells similar to? I’d say if you like Mont Blanc Explorer or DIOR Sauvage this would be a good fit. I’m a fan of Sauvage and think this is a fresher take for an iconic smell. You can’t help but be drawn to it.

Describe K by Dolce&Gabbana in more detail: It’s quite a robust manly fragrance, but it has a soft edge to it too, ensuring the ease of wear. You’ll make an impact but won’t offend.
Where would you wear it? It’s quite a powerful, sophisticated scent so would likely wear it out to dinner/drinks of an evening
